West Ham will face at least a three-way battle for one of their young stars ahead of a summer transfer overhaul.
As the club have told Claret & Hugh repeatedly, they will have to sell before investing significantly to bolster Graham Potterâs squad.
We discovered this morning that three clubs are interested in signing West Ham winger Luis Guilherme in the summer.
The Brazilian wonderkid was signed from Palmeiras for a little over ÂŁ20m as part of a triple exodus that saw Endrick sign for Real Madrid and EstĂŞvĂŁo agree to join Chelsea. The trio were labelled the three best youngsters in Brazil, but unfortunately for Guilherme, he has failed to break into the Hammersâ team.
West Ham rejected two ÂŁ20m+ offers for the rapid winger in January, with Potter deciding he wanted a closer look at the player. However, with the Hammersâ gaffer starting few attackers as he looks to repair the Ironsâ creaking defence, Guilherme hasnât had a look-in.
Claret & Hugh have learnt this morning that not only will Flamengo return with a fresh bid in the summer, but theyâll be joined by two other clubs in the bidding.
Shakhtar Donetsk and Turkish club Galatasaray are both expected to make a bid for the 19-year-old wonderkid, although it is unlikely the Hammers will get their money back after a full yearâs worth of inactivity from a player whose promise hasnât translated to minutes on the pitch.
He’s not old enough to play for us yet , maybe in ten years or so đ¤Ł..
I have heard he is fast, we can’t have anyone at this club who may cause the opposition any problems can we , why use a racehorse when you’ve got lots of good old cart horses.đ¤Ąđ¤Żđ¤..
Does make you wonder if we have to pay a wedge of money if he makes a start or something like that
I’ve got a radical suggestion. We are 17 points clear of relegation, hence, we are not going down. Unlikely to get in top half. So….start with Guilherme, he might surprise a few, we can then either keep him as a good forward player, or cash in at end of season if he doesn’t fit the bill. BUT GIVE THE KID A CHANCE!!
And nobody can give a proper valid reason why he isn’t played all that crap that he’s not good enough got swept down the drain in his 20 minute cameo against Chelsea so why when kudus is badly misfiring and we need pace and Summerville being injured, why are we not seeing him it’s really baffling and makes absolutely no sense
Love the fact that managers having a good look at him SITTING ON THE BENCH……the seasons done give him a starting place lets see what he is made of because no fan or Coach can make a decision until you see him play enough games to tell if he is going to be any good.
Such a bad decision to sell him! He’s 19, has barely been given a chance, has looked good when he’s played, cannot be worse than Ings and will get homegrown to our club in a couple years which we’ll need
Also, side note, but on Football Manager he has great potential, has led my West Ham team until 2034 when I sold him for 70 million
Well, he is 19, first year abroad, a different style of play here and coming from a different style of Academy (repeating myself) he might be better in certain areas and less so in other areas than his WHU Academy counterparts. Normally Brazilian players are technically brilliant and not punt-and-run speedsters only, plus he can learn from Paqueta. Wonder how Paqueta, Emerson & others view him, but that cannot be made public.
There seem to be more reasons why he would be kept especially with the current onus on bringing youth through to becoming regulars (hopefully). As for the 20m outlay, you could question the timing of the outlay not the wisdom because that is about potential, what Steidten saw & GP thinks. Time will tell, but hope he makes it at WHU or on loan.
Great exposition Peter whu. Sense in a sea of knowledgeable speculation. Well done.
thanks Taffyhammer
Shame.
IMO selling him will be a bad decision.
You know what they say about hindsight appears whu don’t have any.
Hope he gets some games and changes their decision.
Future money going out the door.
