West Ham United‘s quest for a new striker has hit a bump in the road after their opening bid for Villarreal’s Alexander Sorloth was rejected, according to Corriere Dello Sport.

Manager Julen Lopetegui needs a solution upfront following a disappointing ninth-place finish last season. Michail Antonio’s uncertain future and Danny Ings’ lack of form have left them desperately searching for a prolific number nine.

The Norwegian international caught West Ham’s eye with an impressive 32-goal contributions (goals and assists) last season. This record showcases his ability to not only score goals but also create them for his teammates. However, it should be noted that despite his excellent season, Sorloth has been less than prolific throughout the majority of his career.

West Ham’s previous attempts to solve our striking woes with Sebastian Haller and Gianluca Scamacca proved unsuccessful, therefore we can’t afford to get this purchase wrong.

West Ham weren’t the only club interested in Sorloth. Reports suggest that Roma was also keen on acquiring him, but their hopes appear dashed after West Ham’s £25.2 million bid, deemed insufficient by Villarreal.

The Hammers face a decision. They can either attempt to negotiate a higher fee for Sorloth or explore alternative options. West Ham’s previous links with Steven Bergwijn and Matias Soule highlight their intention to bolster their attacking options.

One very pressing question i would like answered is a simple one….Neysri is available for around £18/20 million according to sources on here he was one of the names on a list of players that Jlo would like us to sign and also reported the player wants to come….so why all this £30million+ for strikers not good enough or injury prone when we can get a player the manager wants for the money we have just been given for Downes.

Would one of the INTK let us no or better still Mr Leyland as you have your finger on the pulse! why do you not find out mmm?

It’s because all these ITKs haven’t got no more a clue who we’re going after than you or me mate. I think they just scour the web to see who scored most goals last season then link them to us as potential signings.

    Good news 👏
One decent season of scoring doesn’t make you a £30 – 40 million pound player.
Mediocre every other season, get him on loan to prove himself and once proven sign him for what they want.

Agree with Ian. Hoping this is just a smoke screen to lower the price for a different target. Scoring goals in Spain compared to Prem is massive.

Didn’t cut it at Palace so why are we even making a bid for this guy?

Good news. He’s not good enough

Sully will just keep making low offers for strikers until the end of the window then there will be panic and may be another Ings type striker will be bought.

      OY SULLIVAN,
GIVE THE FUNDS THE NEW MAN NEEDS B4 HE LEAVES LIKE HE DID AT WOLVES.
YOU NEED TO PAY THE GOING RATE OR PASS ONTO TO SOMEONE WHO GETS IT.
WE KNOW YOU READ FEEDBACK & YOU ARE CANNY BUT VERY OVER TIGHT.
DO IT FOR THE MASSIVE FAN BASE WE HAVE & THIS SPECIAL NEW MANAGER.

OR THE NEXT ONE LEAVING MIGHT BE YOU SULLY.
DIGEST & ACTION THE FUNDS, WE NEED ONE OR TWO NEW STRIKERS WITH YOUTH & PASSION.

      JUST DO IT.

Sullivan needs to open his wallet once all the moths have cleared he needs to release funds so the players we need can be signed a manager and head of recruitment can’t do there job with one hand tied behind their back we hear a lot about how we are looking to reach the next level but are seeing very little in it getting done so is it a case of dragging it out till we run out of time so Sullivan needs to do the right thing for once in his life
