Former West Ham United coach Kevin Nolan has revealed the club’s missed opportunity to sign Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez.

During an interview with the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast. , Nolan has opened up on his time at the London Stadium and when asked about the possibility of signing Alvarez in the summer of 2022, he admitted that was one of his regrets.

The Argentine striker has emerged as one of the world’s most promising talents, and his success at the Etihad Stadium highlights the Hammers’ oversight. Despite conducting thorough scouting on Alvarez during his time at River Plate, West Ham ultimately decided against pursuing a deal.

The decision to pass on the Argentine has proven to be costly, as Alvarez has gone on to achieve remarkable success with Manchester City, winning the Treble in his debut season. The player’s rapid rise to stardom serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of missed opportunities in the transfer market.

Would he have been successful under Moyes? Probably he’d be just another young lad that didn’t fulfil his potential.

Either way Kev shouldn’t feel regret, he didn’t have the final say. Disappointed maybe.

And so, Kevin Nolan’s remarks years later suddenly carry weight today ???
I wonder what he told his super-manager at the time, Mr Moyes who refused the deal on Alvarez, yet squandered millions on average players, or players he could not improve for West Ham.
But then I must also feel for Kev N who worked under and with the 2 most arrogant and average managers in the buz. Kev definitely deserves an upgrade asap.
Come on Kev – Coyi – God bless West Ham.

Nolan not got a job yet? Been on every media available asking for a job.
    Be lucky to get non-league.
All these stories of his time stealing a living from West Ham as a mediocre at best coach, are tiring.
Sounds a lovely bloke, tbh, and no doubt his mates at the BBC and Talksh*te will get him work. He just wasn’t up the the job at West Ham, none of the backroom yes-men staff were but they’ve kept quiet.
See the dire Nevin got the tin-tack from Strasbourg. No surprise there.
