West Ham United’s new signing Carlos Soler has been compared to club legend Dimitri Payet. The midfielder’s arrival comes after a successful transfer window for the Hammers. Big boots to fill.

Soler’s impressive performances at Valencia have drawn comparisons to Payet. His passing ability, dribbling skills, and creativity are reminiscent of the former West Ham star.

Although he never really got the opportunity to prove himself at PSG, starting just 26 games in Ligue 1 across two campaigns, his form when playing for his boyhood club Valencia was unbelievable. The midfielder scored 22 goals in his last two full seasons in La Liga, assisting a further 13 in that time.

Julen Lopetegui will need to find the best fit for Soler in the West Ham lineup. While the midfielder is unlikely to immediately be a key player, his exact role may depend on the team’s formation and the availability of other players.

Lopetegui seems to favour playing with two defensive minded midfielders, and it’s hard to imagine he will drop Paqueta or Kudus.

While Soler has the potential to be a star player for West Ham, there are concerns about his lack of playing time at PSG. It remains to be seen if he can adapt to the Premier League and deliver consistent performances.

But the Irons signing of Carlos Soler is an exciting development, the midfielder has the potential to be a crucial player for the club.

As regards the Payet comparison, let’s hope we get some of that quality but without all the drama!

‘Concerns about’. And the poor *** hasn’t even kicked a ball for us yet.

Please do not use the word legend to describe Payet

Payed, club legend? I’ll have a pint off whatever you’re drinking!

I’d actually drop Paqueta, he has been poor for a while. Maybe Soler could be the player to push him to up his performance.
I’m looking forward to see what he can bring to our side

I agree with the sentiment that we need to wait and see what Soler offers – in fact the hype over the transfer window is a bit over the top – in Slaven Bilic’s first season he brought in a similar number of players including Oggie, Manu Lanzini, Antonio (and I think that those three deserve to be called WHU legends) as well as Payet, Victor Moses, Jelavic (let us hope that Fullkrug proves to be better than him), Darren Randolph (= Foderingham). That season was actually very good with a 7th place finish – so let us wait and see whether J Lo can do something similar this season

Yeah might be a bit premature seeings as he hasn’t kicked a ball yet

He is nothing like Payet and certainly not as press resistant, he plays centrally for a start, his pass accuracy isn’t in the same league, he doesn’t score outrageous free kicks. He looks a very good player offensively at his best in a central attacking midfield slot, PSG played him in a deeper role he was far less suited too, a bit like Moyes playing players out of position. Hopefully Lopetegui has a good idea of how to get the best out of him and if I were J-Lo would put Bowen up front, Kudus on the right, he is better than Bowen in that position and Summerville on the left. We have the attackers to play like Liverpool do in a 4 3 3 maybe we should try that, with a choice of Alvarez, Rodrguez, Paqueta, Soucek, Irving, Soler to fill the central slots we aren’t short of options and we should drop Mavropanos and get Todibo in, Mavropanos looks frightened under pressure and like he is always about to make a mistake defensively.
