West Ham’s Continued Pursuit of Transfer Targets

West Ham United’s transfer activity is not over yet. Despite the closure of the main transfer window, the club is still exploring opportunities to strengthen their squad through free agent signings.

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui believes that the team can benefit from additional reinforcements. While the Hammers have made several notable signings this summer, Lopetegui recognizes that there is still room for improvement.

Julen Lopetegui has seemingly confirmed that the club will look to bring in at least one player on a free transfer in the coming weeks. “The window is closed and you can now only sign free players right now,” Lopetegui explained.

And OK, we have to focus on the players who we have in the squad [but] we now lose a lot of players who go with their national teams and we are crossin“g our fingers that they come back healthy.

“We will keep working and start thinking about the next challenge.”

The departures of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd have left West Ham with a depleted defensive line. The club may consider signing a free agent defender to address this issue and provide depth and competition.

West Ham’s forward line has been bolstered by the addition of Niclas Fullkrug. However, Lopetegui may still be interested in adding another striker with a different style of play to provide more options and flexibility.

The free agent market offers the Irons the opportunity to sign players without paying a transfer fee. This can be a cost-effective way to strengthen the squad, especially as our coffers are now nearly empty.
