West Ham United‘s injury woes have deepened with the news that Aaron Cresswell suffered a hamstring injury during the warm-up for their recent match.

Manager Julen Lopetegui confirmed the injury, stating, “We had a problem in the warm-up with Cresswell with his hamstring. We had to make a change, but in the end we overcame all these difficulties as a team.”

While Cresswell may not be a regular starter in the Premier League, his injury creates a significant concern for squad depth at the full-back positions. He serves as the only cover for first-choice left-back Emerson Palmieri.

If Emerson is also injured, West Ham would be forced to rely on the 34-year-old Cresswell, which is far from ideal. Furthermore, with Cresswell out, Aaron Wan-Bissaka would likely cover the left flank, leaving Vladimir Coufal as the only remaining natural right-back.

This highlights once again the team’s lack of depth in full-back positions, especially considering Lopetegui’s statement about Cresswell’s injury.

West Ham United’s hopes for a successful season hinge on the fitness of their full-backs. Cresswell’s injury exposes the team’s lack of depth in these crucial positions, leaving fans concerned about their ability to cope with potential injuries to Emerson or Wan-Bissaka.

I really not sure on Fullkrug, doesn’t seem that mobile, looking at Duran as a much better option, early days hope to be proved wrong, but Duran has many more years to prove it.

    • Barry says:

“I really not sure on Fullkrug” Nothing like giving a player a chance huh, he was very good against Palace when he came on.

  • Darkhorse99 says:

I was surprised Cresswell was picked to start. He is too slow and old now for the premiership

  • Graham says:

Martin Storrie I agree he looked very slow and wasn’t dominant when the ball came to him in the air. Early days but wasn’t what I was expecting.

  • Dudley Tyler says:

‘West Ham United‘s injury woes have deepened’. What injury woes? Who else is not available? As for Cresswell’s injury many hamstring recoveries are ten days to three weeks. International break coming up. He will likely miss City, but he wouldn’t have played anyway.

  • Andy Stone says:

Ollie Scarles has got to be the obvious choice. Use a left footed left back to get the ball up the line and not force the ball back inside which is what was happening last night.
Yes Ollie is inexperienced but he’d be surrounded by great experience.
Our lack of midfield was the issue for Fulkrug. Not playing to his strengths will have the same effect as with Scamaka and Haller.

  • Hammeroo says:

Quick, can we buy Ben Johnson back from Ipswich? I knew we should not have let him leave our club. Instant Karma!

  • Phil w says:

Promote a LB and a RB from academy. Or loan one in, and promote one. By next summer, I doubt coufal or Cresswell will be here. Time to see what we have in the academy.

  • Selsdonhammer says:

If Southampton want Cornet and/or Ward-Prowse we should demand Walkera-Peters as part of any deal.

  • Jeeps says:

    Obviously a problem.waiting to happen.
Cresswell is a bench man for last 20 minutes.
How can you consider playing whole season with only 1.25 players available.
Completely agree with Selsdonhammer get Walker-Peters in who can also cover r/bk.
