“West Ham’s €30m offer can seal January deal” | Worrying reality behind striker story

Callum Wilson ran himself to a standstill last night and that presents Nuno Espírito Santo and West Ham with a big problem for Sunday: Three days recovery will surely be insufficient for the 33 year old’s high mileage body and Nuno appears to have chucked Niclas Fullkrug onto the scrap heap.

Putting out a modified starting XI against Brighton might be possible but it is not the long – term answer to West Ham’s striker crisis. The Hammers need a new addition in January before the workload on Wilson forces the almost inevitable breakdown. Should sportwitness.co.uk’s  report prove founded on fact then there’s a move afoot to bring another Mexican frontman – following in Chicarito’s footsteps of 2017 – to east London next month:

“Destined for the Premier League’ – Belief West Ham’s €30m offer can seal January deal”

Referring to West Ham’s interest in AC Milan’s Santiago Gimenez which originates from reports last month linking the centre forward with both West Ham and Sunderland, Sportwitness write:

“The Italian media continue to speak of West Ham’s interest in Gimenez. Il Messaggero [Italian News outlet]report today that the 24-year-old is ‘destined for the Premier League’. They still expect him to leave the San Siro, having failed to score even once this season and struggling with injuries.

There is belief that West Ham and Sunderland can put forward €30m to sign the striker. This will prove enough for [ AC Milan] who value the player at a similar price.

However –  “Failing to score this season and struggling with injuries” – sounds like a perfect, carbon copy of the man he might yet replace at West Ham – the Irons’ injury stricken frontman Niclas Fullkrug.

A case of here we go again? Surely Sullivan won’t repeat the Tim Steidten mistake of the summer of ’24.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

They can’t afford to mess thie one up .On and off the pitch so stay well clear and let’s get the Toney deal done

  • Fredk says:

Agreed. All the signs are there…a striker who hasn’t scored and spends more time injured than playing. Surely not 🤞

  • Phil Baker says:

Are you kidding . Westham don’t need another injury prone striker who can’t even score in Seria A .

You mean when Tim wanted Duran and had to get any striker in so there’s somebody up top. If not for injuries Full is a top player

Injuries and willing to let him go….no thank you we all no the clubs history of signing players only for the injury to kick in and there seasons over…nope no ty…i’d rather us get Sargent from Norwich who is going through a barren patch right now but is not injury prone!

Why are we chasing a injury and out of form striker.
We have some of them already
We need someone maybe not so well known but is fit and scoring and playing regularly, that is not a lot to ask
I also would like to say, I think Paqueta needs to be on the bench at Brighton and earn his place back, because let’s face it he has not been playing well. Loosing the ball all the time and fouling and after his sending off deserves to be benched.
We need to move him on,his days are finished at West Ham
We stood by him and I thought he might repay us but this match fixing has really affected him and I think he needs a fresh start
