West Ham watchers – fans and critics alike have seen the gloom deepen and the suggestion that every talented player at the club is ‘up for sale’ if some sources are to be believed. Good news has been thin on the ground this week after another turgid, boring, low ambition performance against bottom side Southampton last week.
There is good news on the horizon though. One of the more criticised players last week was poor old Vlad Coufal who decided to try and keep the ball in the corner to ‘save’ a point in the last couple of minutes against the worst side here in the Premier League – and earned huge criticism for his lack of attacking ambition to try and win the game.
Coufal was only playing because of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s toe injury which meant the shoe-in for Hammer of the Year was sidelined with injections and didn’t take part.

Wan-Bissaka : Sorely missed against Southampton
Wan-Bissaka has been confirmed by whufc.com as fit to travel and face Brighton on Saturday which means Coufal has quite possibly had his last start in a Claret and Blue shirt. Whilst the Czech has been a wonderful warrior, a great ambassador for the club and let’s not forget, a trophy winner, time has caught up with him and he’s going to be demoted to become a bit-part player in someone else’s side next year.
Wan-Bissaka’s value to the club is gauged by how much he is missed when he’s injured: His recovery is a huge piece of good news but highlights the club’s need to go out and secure the signing of Kyle Walker Peters (main pic) in the Summer: The two operating at left and right back for the Hammers is an exciting prospect and indeed, if ‘KWP’ joins ‘AWB’ at West Ham, genuinely something to sit back and enjoy next season.
I nearly choked on my cornflakes when you said KWP is an exciting prospect, there’s a reason why Southampton are the worst team, this freebie is so lightweight and at best bang average, if you watch saints games, one good game this season and no surprise that was against us, we should be aiming higher then KWP no goals 2 assists for an exciting prospect? Boy are we in trouble next season!
Cruel writing off Vlad just like that.
Should already have him …fkd it up with flyn downes deal….that boat has sailed he’s out of contact and can go anywhere.. why would he come to us now …why would anyone with the way the club is run and looks from the outside ?
Myself think Scarles is a better fit than walker peters
Need a striker.
I am aware of some of the fans who are pushing for the academy players to get first team starts for next season, unfortunately from what I have seen so far Scarles is not yet good enough for a regular first team start ( anyone who was at the Liverpool game will struggle to disagree with me) and as for Potts, Earthy and Orford I am yet to be convinced they are ready for regular first team football. That leaves us in a pretty poor state considering the out of contract players set to leave at the end of the season. If the club’s ambitions are to be remotely competitive I honestly believe that at least five positions need to be covered with seasoned prem quality players ( striker, left back , midfielder x2 and centre back). I hope I’m wrong but I really don’t see this happening so my prediction for next season I’m afraid to say is not a good one
As for Vlad trying to keep the ball in the corner flag – I remember Mikey not doing that but trying to score instead and palace broke down the other end and equalised – two weeks later Slav was fired
It seems that sometimes you can’t win
