West Ham United‘s young goalkeeper Fin Herrick has caught the eye of manager Julen Lopetegui during the club’s pre-season tour.
West Ham yesterday played Crystal Palace twice in the US, one which was the main event for which our Hammers fell to a 3-1 loss, however, less well known is the fact that we also played the south Londoners earlier in a shorter 60 minute encounter behind closed doors which we won 3-0. Bowen and Paqueta both appeared in this brief outing.
The 18-year-old shot-stopper, who has represented England at youth level, impressed in the friendly against Crystal Palace, showcasing his ability with the ball at his feet and his composure under pressure.
Lopetegui’s positive assessment of Herrick’s performance suggests that the young goalkeeper could be in line for a prominent role in the club’s future plans. With the club having released Knightsbridge, Anang and selling Nathan Trott this summer, it appears that Herrick is being groomed as a potential successor to Lukasz Fabianski when he finally hangs up his boots.
Don’t forget our other top talent Krisztián Hegyi. they are our future.
Be interesting to see who get’s the nod when Fab does eventually retire.
