West Ham’s impressive 19 year old | Fast-tracked to England u21’s after just one game

Being moved up from England ‘s under 20’s to the u21’s has completed the set for one West Ham emerging talent who has now the full set of representing England at all six age groups if he gets to see his name on the team sheet for Tuesday night’s England u21 fixture against Slovenia.

In a remarkable move Fin Herrick is now West Ham’s exciting England international prospect as well as the Hammers’ 3rd choice goal keeper who was recalled from loan to cover Lucas Fabianski’s back injury and now, at just 19, finds himself in the senior squad at London Stadium.

Herrick has only made his u20 debut in the 1 – 1 draw against Japan earlier in the same international break and now finds himself – after one appearance at u20 age group –  fast tracked to the u21’s.

According to whufc.com:

“Herrick replaces Manchester United’s Elyh Harrison, joining fellow goalkeepers Tommy Setford of Arsenal and Stoke City’s Tommy Simkin in the U21s ranks.”

“The U21s, who have won the last two UEFA European U21 Championships, in 2023 and 2025, have made a flawless start to their qualifying campaign for the 2027 tournament, winning all four of their Group D games so far without conceding.”

No pressure on the young man then!

He joins former West Ham striker Divin Mubama – now with Stoke, who scored last time out, and reported Hammers target Tyrique George in the under 21’s for tomorrows 5pm kick off against Slovenia. At this rate it won’t be long before Herrick is competing for that number one jersey at London Stadium.

The Hammers could certainly use some good news on the goal keeping front after the £15 million Mads Hermansen signing appears to have gone badly. Some sources are even claiming West Ham will seek to sell on the Dane in January after his pretty disastrous Hammers three-game career which cost eleven goals.
