In one fell swoop, “Super” Tim Steidten has managed to completely turn the window around as he has all but secured three immense signings in one weekend, with perhaps Summerville the most exciting 0f the three .
The imminent arrivals of Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez have capped off a period of significant squad strengthening
The Hammers have been very proactive in the market, addressing key areas of the team and demonstrating a clear intent to compete for European places. Tim Steidten, the club’s technical director, has come under scrutiny in recent times, but the recent flurry of signings has vindicated his approach.
With the potential addition of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the squad, West Ham are on course to assemble a competitive team capable of challenging for honours. All Irons fans will undoubtedly be excited by the prospect of a new-look side under the guidance of manager Julen Lopetegui.
Despite the pre-season defeats, we’re in danger of feeling optimistic !
Is Tim Steidten involved in all the transfer negotiations or does he have a team that works with him
If these all come off I would go as far as to say it is the best transfer window we’ve ever had. In Kilman Rodriguez and Füllkrug Tim has given us a spine in one window. Think of zouma, soucek Antonio under Moyes. This like night and day. Thanks Tim for all your great work
Got to agree with that. This will allow a couple of seasons to qualify for Europe and make West Ham attractive enough to younger players of the same pedigree without as they say in New Zealand, having to sell the farm.
I honestly wanted an additional c/b but now we have Rodriguez we could play Alvarez along side Kilman and Rodriguez in Alvarez’s position just a thought lol
Tim and Julen have got off to a good start with recruitment. I’m expecting another centre-back coming in as well as Wan-Bissaka and Duran – I don’t believe a deal with Villa is likely, until after the opening game against them…… Just a thought.
2015/2016 personally for me was the best window that I recall in my 33 year lifetime:
Dimitri Payet
Angelo Ogbonna
Michail Antonio
Pedro Obiang
Sam Byram
Nikica Jelavic
Darren Randolph
Alex Song
Victor Moses
Manuel Lanzini
I’m inclined to agree, some of what’s being said feels like we’re being sold a polished turd. “Balancing experience with youth” we already had 2nd oldest squad in premier league and some exciting talent coming through from the academy, yes we needed new players and Summerville will play more and could score more than Duran this season. Füllkrug looks less mobile than Antonio, how does that work in a high pressure? Also while it will be nice to see a more possession based style, are we really going to try that against the likes of Citeh, Arsenal or even Brighton and Bournemouth? I believe we will improve but I’d like us to be tactically flexible, we have been incredibly dangerous on the counter with Bowen, Kudus and (yes) Antonio. This is a positive and losing it would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Hoping for good things, but worried the defence is still not sorted and missing out on En-Nesyri, Diego Gomez, Jota Silva (all good and cheaper options) and not bidding for Solet and Alberto doesn’t come back to bite us. Not wanting to burst bubbles, happy to be proved wrong. COYI
High press, auto incorrect strikes again
Fingers crossed that Julen the Coach can quickly mould Tim the Pearl Diver’s collection into the West Ham team we all want to see. We should be in for a great season without the demands of European competition and this should be a terrific foundation and preparation for the following seasons. That is the ambition and we need to prepare to celebrate the fruits of the continuing work of everyone at London Stadium. We have been spoilt for the last four years in the Premier League and in Europe. Wee Davey did a great job with Kevin Nolan at his side. Now we need to see more dreams coming true with Julen in charge. It will not just bedown to the new signings though – we already have some extremely hard working, competent and talented players.
All the very best – COYI.
We should definitely get 2 more central defenders in, competition is needed so they no that they have to perform to keep there place the tired old dross and underperfomers should be shown the door and we should do all we can to oreilly from celic he is quality and will only get better and better.
