Lyon owner John Textor claims that West Ham were asking €40m for central defender Nayef Aguerd during the summer transfer window.
The Moroccan international eventually moved to La Liga side Real Sociedad on loan for the season, with the Hammers receiving a £2m loan fee.
If Textor’s claims are true, it would help explain why West Ham struggled to offload the centre-back until late in the window.
To put it mildly, the days when Aguerd was worth over £30m are long gone, and his stint in East London has seen his value depreciate in the eyes of potential buyers. The 28-year-old signed from Rennes for £30m but immediately picked up an injury in pre-season and never truly became the player West Ham expected.
The best the Hammers can hope for is that Aguerd has a standout season at Sociedad, raising his value somewhat. Personally, I think we’ll be lucky to get £15-20m back for the player.
Would it not be fair to at least make a reference to the horrific earthquake that hit MOROCCO ,devasting many regions , with no forms of communication. Argued took a leading role in organising blood donating. worrying about his family . yet l remember, you and Simon at that time bleating on about his lack of concentration etc. etc. and SIMON is still at it , and now so are you ! no wonder he is disillusioned especially if he reads C.@. H.
I didn’t even know that, Ian the sub, and I’m sure I would’ve slagged Aguerd off at that time, so thanks for the info.
This muppet, despite being a billionaire, can’t even add up Lyon’s accounts, so I wouldn’t believe his math! Did you see the video?
Aguerd showed his class at the WC but it’s not been on show much here. Perhaps he’s just not suited to the EPL but, like in the past, it doesn’t mean we have to give him away.
He needs to shut TFU and concentrate on selling his Palace shares and buying that pile of crap on Merseyside.
I just want the C.H. team to clean their act up . it’s a small enough group . try to be sensitive and fair , and avoid personal grandiose attitudes .
RESPECT. RESPECT. RESPECT.
