West Ham have made a bid for striker Jhon Duran during the current transfer window.

Claret & Hugh can exclusively reveal the precise fee offered to Aston Villa for the Colombian forward, who has reportedly expressed a desire to leave Villa Park.

The 21-year-old striker, who celebrated his birthday in December, is still open to a move to West Ham. However, the club cannot meet Aston Villa’s new £60M valuation. It was disclosed to C&H this evening that the Hammers submitted a £40M bid, rather than the previously reported figure for Duran.

In a surprising turn of events, Borussia Dortmund have entered the race for the striker, outbidding the Irons. Although the Bundesliga giants have yet to match Villa’s valuation, there is a certain irony in the situation. Some of the money West Ham paid Dortmund for Niclas Füllkrug could ultimately help fund Villa’s asking price for the striker we wanted in the first place.

Sources have also revealed that Aston Villa would have accepted £38M for Duran during the summer transfer window. West Ham’s director of football, Tim Steidten, was keen to move forward with the deal back then.

Meanwhile, as confirmed earlier today, there is genuine interest in Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi, with negotiations between the two clubs still in the early stages

The time to have bought Duran was last window when he was ours for not a lot more than we had already bid. But the conversation was actually had. No, not prepared to pay a bit extra for him forget Duran, go and sign Fullkrug as a cheaper option.

Believe it or not that wasn’t even the worst decision last window, somebody actually thought that Lopetegui was the best man for the job.

Now we go back, after he’s signed a new contract, and after he’s banged in goals galore, and when he can more or less choose wherever he goes, with an offer that it should be obvious to anyone is never going to succeed.

It’s embarrassing, someone must have actually taken leave of their senses. With decisionmaking like this we have no chance of ever getting anywhere. It is frankly mindboggling.

Aston Villa have just announced through TalkSport that Duran is NOT for sale. He’s under contract until 2030.

What an embarrassment for Sully. He should’ve listened to Tim – he knows what he’s doing unlike Sully. Cant wait until he’s gone and stopped killing my club.

Sully… the biggest clown in the Premier league circus
Laugh a minute. Everybody knows it

The offer was £50m but included conditions however it’s still way below his buy out clause which is €100m (£71m) which I agree is more than he’s worth today. He will leave VP one day, maybe in the summer but as his contract has another 5yrs to run it won’t ever be cheap.
WH would be better if trying for Watkins however I doubt anything less than £60m would tempt Villa to sell.

This whole Duran situation is the very definition of Insanity.

Oh, you knocked back our 30m bid?

Ok, well we will come back in 6 months time with another 30m bid and when you reject that one too, we will bid again, and again until you block us…

    Regards,
    David Sullivan

Why are we taking the p—- by offering £40 million if Villa value him at £60 million? Have we learnt nothing from last seasons transfer fiasco? To now find we could have got him for £38 million and he wanted to join us, then ended up paying £27 million to Dortmund for 31 year old Fullkrug is an absolute joke. They only paid £12.6 million to sign him from Warder- Brennan the previous year!

To then pay £25.5 million for 18 year old Guilherme was crazy, why on earth didn’t we just pay what Villa were asking and bring in a player who is destined for the very top. Sell Kudus if we have to and sign Duran if he is still interested.

  • Ted Fenton says:

Why offer 40m now. If everyone thinks he is the striker that could take us to the next level over the next 5 years then ask Villa what they want and just pay it. Get the deal done before lots of other bids come in, why do we always try to be clever. If we need to sell Kudus to pay for it then so be it.Kudus is an exciting player but we already have wide players in Bowen and Summerville

  • Mark says:

We just need Sullivan out of our club how we paid that many for the German is madness and even more so why we didn’t buy Duran and now he’s got more say again is ridiculous 😡⚒

    • Hammeroo says:

How much money will Sullivan accept for him to leave? And then there is is frontroom staff too. 🤭
