One of the perils of having the oldest squad in the Premier League is the amount of time players spend on the treatment table instead of the training ground or the pitch. Fair to say apart from Antonio’s horrible car crash which was anything but football-related, the Hammers got off pretty lightly last season with Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville the long-term absentees.
New signing Callum Wilson came with a history of almost a full two years in the last five out injured – but surprisingly, the latest West Ham player to succumb is the youngest signing of the summer so far.
Teenager Daniel Cummings, signed in July from Celtic, has evidently required surgery to fix a long standing shoulder injury. Being 18 years old does not make him immune to injuries and disappointingly, from his instagram post the young forward will face a spell of rehabilitation to get fit again.

“Shoulder op done:
Gutted to miss start of season
Come back stronger”
Hoping, no doubt, to hit the ground running in the u21’s on the 18th August season opener at home against Nottingham Forest, Cummings would have been desperate to make hi mark and impress both the u21s coach Mark Robson and West Ham’s manager Graham Potter whilst there is still a ‘vacancy’ for a finisher in the senior side.
What happened to the French guy we bought and loaned back
The Curse strikes again . Didn’t even play a match and injured .
Wishing the young lad well, and pray for a good recovery after the op.
Obviously, West Ham knew the kid had the injury, and took that into account, knowing he would only be available later in the season. Hopingly not too far in.
Yes, and having him contracted in for years, means we could see many goals from him vs C. WIlson.
Nonetheless, we again hope and pray for a good season to West Ham. Coyi. God bless WH 🙏⚒🏆
