Hokey-Cokey football transfers at West Ham. In, out, in out, just no shaking all about. Hopefully. In the last few months West Ham’s free transfer signing from last summer, Argentinian Guido Rodriguez, has been linked with a departure on many occasions. He was even quoted directly as saying that coming to the Premier League was a huge mistake and he hoped to return to his former league as soon as the summer window opened.

Then the mood shifted after being handed two consecutive starts from Graham Potter against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, with very contrasting results. Suddenly Rodriguez was open to staying, we were reliably informed last week, with his position being shifted- ‘reports that he wanted to return to Argentina were wide of the mark”

Now just today the player himself has offered the biggest pointer yet as to his future plans. Sportwitness.co.uk claim that Rodriguez sounds like he’s saying goodbye with his quoted comment to Spanish language site DSport.com:

“I fulfilled the dream of the Guido who watched the Premier on TV,” he said when asked about his time at the club. Which is a pretty clear admission that ‘he’s done’ with the Premier League: Especially from the photos of him in tears on the Old Trafford Pitch, fulfilling a lifetimes’ ambition.

Sounds like he’s on his way. Although he’s far fitter and more mobile than when he first started life as a Hammer under Lopetegui, at thirty he’s clearly past his best and struggled to keep up with the pacy, free flowing attacking football of Nottingham Forest more than against the laboured, largely ineffective Manchester United attack.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
