West Ham boss David Moyes wants to bring James Ward-Prowse to West Ham along with Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire.
He believes he needs a central defender with Kurt Zouma injury prone, Nayef Aguerd, on occasions struggling for form, and Angelo Ogbonna now at the veteran stage of his career.
Maguire has been mentioned regularly over recent weeks along with Scott McTominay who best position is as central defender in a back three but is generally used in midfield.
Neither are wanted at Old Trafford but Maguire’s £180k a week wage would be a problem for the Hammers who would need to work out a realistic transfer fee with United if they were to make it happen.
Moyes is the driving force behind the deal but he wants to team Maguire with Ward-Prowse who is a specialist set piece player from whose “creativity” Maguire may finish effectively.
Many of the Hammers goals over Moyes’ time in charge have come from such situations which has drawn fans criticism of the team’s ability to create as many from open play.
But the two signings make a lot of sense from the Moyes point of view given the duo’s pattern of play!
I would say they only make Moyes sense, to everyone else it makes zero sense crazy wages, no resale value etc…
When’s aguerd struggled for form .maguire would be my 4th choice centre half. He’s gonna waste the rice money
Don’t let Moyes waste the money on Maguire who is slower than the QE2, surely even he can see that he’s useless!
Would Maguire be a big upgrade on Aguerd and Zouma? Not for me and not at the crazy transfer & wage demands. Hopefully we come up with some more creative names and younger
The red bull model Mr Moyes ? Lol
And we giving this dinosaur another 100 million to waste on journeymen
As you say it makes sense from Moyes viewpoint, just nobody else. Man U would pay us to take Maguire. It is such a worry that the talk is all about Paqueta and Scamacca moving on and Moyes is interested in donkeys. Not a good vibe.
Get ready for more wasted money and more defensive dross served up next season.
