Real Madrid 3-0 Manchester City
West Ham’s next opponents Manchester City got something of a humbling at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League tonight.
The Hammers face Pep Guardiola’s men at the London Stadium on Saturday and their squad is so deep they will likely make several changes. But at the Bernabéu this evening, City barely laid a glove on Madrid, who went 3–0 up in the first half following a sensational hat-trick from Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan’s third goal in particular was a treat to behold on an embarrassing night for Gianluigi Donnarumma.
West Ham hope City keep focus on Europe
West Ham can only hope that City do not feel the tie is irretrievable in the second leg and throw all their eggs into the Premier league basket. No doubt, it will be a far more proficient and lethal Manchester City who turn up in Stratford on Saturday.
But on this occasion, Pep’s boys were out-passed, out-pressed and generally outperformed in every facet of the game in Madrid. It was their biggest defeat of the season and let’s hope we’re saying the same thing at the weekend.
Saying the same this weekend. Loving it. Come On You Irons.
We can do this, Gonzo. Believe it.
I’m trying Taffy mate
They also drew at home to Forest last weekend, let’s just hope we have belief we can beat them
