West Ham’s No 1 striker target named…not Sturridge!

batshMichy Batshuayi remains very much at the top of the Hammers summer hit list to replace Andy Carroll as the club’s No 1 striker

Despite him having become a total Chelsea misfit  Slaven Bilic still has a very high regard for the Belgian front man he tried so hard to sign last summer.

And there have been a number of talks about the possibility of grabbing the player for around £25 million after the £38 million signing has reached the final part of the season having made just 16 appearances in all competitions for the league leaders.

Recycled rumours are emerging in tomorrow’s newspapers that we retain an interest in trying to sign Daniel Sturridge but CandH understands that Batshuayi is clear number one target.

And if Blues boss Antonio Conte is unsure about allowing the centre forward to join us permanently, the Irons will be happy to fork out a hefty loan fee plus his wages to conclude a season-long deal.

The Hammers will allow the Chinese to pursue any interest they have in Carroll but one source said; “He’s more than happy with the London lifestyle and may not be the type of guy to settle in China for a couple of years. He also has a young baby to think about.”

  1. Ok I’ll bite, is that really you posting over on whtid Hugh?

  2. I have lost complete faith in whoever is making the decisions re our signings. There is not one player we signed recently that has improved us. I am not going over the usual suspects but can anyone justify 20m on Ayew – he perhaps has been the greatest waste of money after Zaza. Even the signings of Fonte and Snodgrass were dull signings. If we don’t get the very best then we should spread our search for youth and hunger. I am fed up signing over rated players and paying them a fortune. The only player I actually like is Calleri and Bilic continues to persist with Carroll. Bilic give Calleri and Antonio a run up top before Sakho gets back.

  3. I don’t know if that’s true Johnham or if they simply play badly in Slavens set up. Not arguing with you I genuinely don’t know.

  4. There is no chance that Andy Caroll, Billi Mucklow and their kids will move to China. Absolutely none. As for Sure being a greater water of money since Zaza – that’s probably the most stupid comment I’ve read all season, of which there have been many.

  5. Makes me laugh they are so keen on batshuayi. We are such tightwads. We wanted Van Dyke but wouldnt pay £13m for him. One of the best central defenders in the league this season now tipped for £60m. We wanted Gabbiadini but didnt want to pay £15m in january, been bangin them in for fun. WTF?!

We need to just go all out for e solid signings this summer which in my opinion should be kieran Trippier (£15m), Gylfi Sigurdsson (£20+m) and either Lacazette or Icardi (£40+m each). If possible get Hart (£15m)

If Carroll is sold and with our reported warchest these players are a real possibility for us and would really make us a strong team.

    • Everyone seems to be worried that AC and B.M don’t want to move from London to China.
Tough Cheddar. How long has A.C been on WorkCover at West Ham? I am not saying through any fault of his own.I think enough is enough. He is no longer the game changer, as everyone has worked him out.Must largely agree with Damielson and Johnham. Other than perhaps Snodgrass I don’t rate the rest.Unless we start spending we will always be a mid table team or one battling relegation each year.

  6. Well that result was no fun , was it ! . West Ham continue to set all the wrong records , no change there . It’s getting very worrying for next season ( that’s if we manage to finish above 18th ) and surely questions are being asked about Bilics contract extension . I thought we had gotten rid of Alladyce but , he seems to have returned in a disguise .
We are becoming a joke even to extent of being the least feared team in the Prem .
This coming Summer window is megga for West Ham who must get some quality about them or next season will be spent just like this one or even worse . And quality doesn’t just stop at the playing level . We are very disappointing to say the least .

  7. I know so many worship Carroll, but it should not be the club’s worry if he only wants an Essex Lifestyle, we are one dimensional when he plays, late on in the first half we broke fast (which is unusual for us) right from our own half, 4 or 5 players were at there box and Carroll was still on the half way line, remember when he returned from injury in the last season of Fat Sam, we came off the rails. We need a top all round striker!

But also When are we going to have our talented young players chopping at the heals of first team players, fighting for their places, we must be one of the only club who constantly send our talent out on loan, other clubs have younger players in their side.

Someone at the club needs to stand up and accept that summer and January signing were completely wrong!

  8. I dont think carroll would want to join China. I agree he loves the lifestyle of london too much. But this is a player who publicly stated he doesnt like watching football (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4173412/West-Ham-striker-Andy-Carroll-opens-Jamie-Redknapp.html). He is on 80,000 a week in London and will not be on the same money when hius contract expires due to his injury record. If he could have a few seasons on double if not tripple money who would not be tempted!

  9. Can’t say it often enough……

    ………………………………………BERARDI!!!!!

    Loud enough?
