Gianluca Scamacca will again be missing through injury when the Hammers meet Newcastle United at the London Stadium tomorrow evening.

The 24 year old’s regular problems with injury are becoming a worry but it means thaat either Danny Ings or Michail Antonio will be required to start.

Scamacca came back from international duty with a sore knee and is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks of action with the hammers facing a crowded fixture list.

He has now been absent from the team since starting and scoring on 16 March, where the Hammers beat AEK Larnaca 4-0 to reach the UEFA Europa Conference League last eight.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference the manager made it clear the striker was facing a period of rehab over the next two weeks, but that any surgery was unlikely as things stand.

“Gianluca Scamacca has two weeks of rehabilitation on his knee which is going to keep him out for a couple of weeks,” Moyes stated when asked about team news ahead of Wednesday’s fixture. “We don’t think he needs surgery, but we’ll see how the next two weeks go.”
