West Ham’s senior pro drops hint | ‘The one’ to sign

West Ham’s interest in several Southampton players is well documented both here and elsewhere: The suggestion that ‘the relegated four’ might be under the Hammers’ microscope seemed counter intuitive as buying nearly half a side of relegated players- including their thrice related goalkeeper -seems folly in the extreme.

However West Ham’s senior midfielder and former Saint’s captain speaks in glowing terms of one Southampton talent and apparently has no such misgivings.

James Ward-Prowse spent over ten years at St Mary’s and has been waxing lyrical on the abilities of Tyler Dibling.

As reported on the Hammers website and by saintsmarching.com,

“Ward-Prowse believes in junior academy mate Dibling’s success..the West Ham star assured the supporters amidst Dibling’s forgettable run, saying: “Tyler has got a lot of promise. He’s still incredibly young and still has a lot of football to play.”

Ward-Prowse rates Tyler Dibling

Evidently the former Saints academy man rates Dibling highly which would explain the nonsensical, astronomical price tags linked with Dibling and clubs like Manchester United.

If that interest from Amorim’s side comes to nothing, Ward Prowse’s clear suggestion is that Dibling is ‘the one’ to go for. West Ham could do far worse than look at Dibling as a player for the future. But not at the daft £100m prices quoted.

Hammers’ whole ‘rebuild by another name’ needs to be accomplished for less than that.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

£40mill might be a fair price for a Dibling with good dribbling. Would love to see him in a Hammers shirt! COYI !

That’s the one we would not get. The time wasted going for impossible targets loses realistic opportunities. Even if it was possible he’s a big risk as its potential not established talent. Again not a serious idea in our clubs situation
