West Ham’s tenth signing is imminent

West Ham have signed former Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez as their tenth and final signing of the summer bring their total spend to £115m.

He will be officially unveiled at 5 pm on the club website.

Sanchez was a part of the Colombia side that was knocked out of the World Cup by England this summer. The holding midfielder endured a tough tournament, as he was sent off in his country’s opening game with Japan and then gave away a penalty in the defeat to Gareth Southgate’s men.

The Fiorentina midfielder flew in with his agent last night for a medical and signed his paperwork around 3 pm this afternoon.  He joins on a two year deal and not a loan as first thought.

Sanchez has won 88 caps for Colombia and played in the Premier League for Aston Villa between 2014 and 2016. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Espanyol.

  1. After the decent window we’ve had, this does feel a little ‘after the Lord Mayors show’ to me. I just pray he’s been bought as cover only🙏

    • Meant to add, as a loan are we able to ship him back to Italy after 6 months if he does prove to be 💩 or is it a full year?

  2. You never know MMG he may prove to be a pleasant surprise, we all have low expectations so lets see 🙂

  3. Let’s hope he left the WWE moves in Russia!

  4. I only have low expectations of Sanchez since I expect him to be an upgrade on Kouyate.

  5. Hes a colombian international with premier league experience and third or fourth choice … i just have a feeling that he will surprise alot of us …dont hold me to it though ! 😂

  6. Everton have gone bonkers in the last minutes signing three of our targets Yerry Mina, Bernard, Andre Gomes & apparently Kurt Zouma also. Definitely going to be an interesting season for both us and them.

  7. Not an upgrade on Kouyate .Is Rice being primed for that df midfield role?.If not I cannot understand why we didn’t go for Dendoncker.

  8. looks like a permanent signing let’s get behind all our signings this season & it can’t be any worse than last season & in Pellergrini he knows wot he’s doing

  9. He joins a central midfield that already includes Noble, Rice, Wilshere, Obiang, Lanzini, Fernandes and Cullen. He’s building up the squad with quality players, and I think he’ll be fine. Come on you Irons!!

  10. If he can be our ball winner and give it simple to our ball carriers and passers, then he’ll be a welcome addition. As you al know our passing for the past two seasons (out from the back) has been below par, more often than not. Let’s get behind all of our squad, new and old, they’re all Hammers now!
