West Ham’s transfer window can crawl into life this week

Image for West Ham’s transfer window can crawl into life this week

Hammers fans have been pretty morose, with due reason, in recent weeks seeing other clubs around them get their deals done early. The Irons lost out early doors on reported targets such as Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher. News this weekend of Brazilian striker Igor Jesus heading to Nottingham Forest further dampening the mood amongst West Ham supporters who are starved of good news.

The fuss made in the winter over a loan deal for Evan Ferguson – even though it was to no avail – shows how desperate we are as Hammers fans are  just for some good news.

It does seem as though the transfer window might actually crawl into life for the Hammers this week. Hardly a celebration, but it shows how low our sights are when the prospective sales of Nayef Aguerd and Mohammed Kudus are seen as ‘good things’ .

However if they move the side towards bringing in a crop of young, committed footballers who will enhance the squad and play for the shirt then that might be construed as a ‘positive’. Time, perhaps, to reset the optimism and look forward to some action this week then.

Players such as Leicester’s young ‘keeper Mads Hermansen, Raphael Onyedika and Adama Bojang remain ‘on the radar’ and as yet, available despite the constant reported presence of predatory sides such Everton, Bournemouth, Wolves – the ‘usual suspects’. So- perhaps- good news might be just around the corner. After all, what could possibly go wrong?

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Even if we get the aforementioned players in, none of us knows much about them and whether they’ll actually add anything to our squad. It’s why the transfer window is mostly irrelevant for a club like us. Unless we’re signing the top players in the world any player purchase is irrelevant until we see them play in the team once the season starts

Last summer we signed Old Uncle Tom Cobley n’all and look where that got us! Bit of patience required.

what could go wrong? Maybe the fact that David Sullivan is handling negotiations.

Who hasn’t made any signings yet? We’ve signed Todibo of course but seems there are quite a few clubs who haven’t. The following clubs haven’t signed anyone yet. Arsenal, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Ipswich, Leeds, Leicester, Newcastle, Wolves. Most teams in the premier league haven’t signed anyone yet then.
