West Ham United are experiencing a whirlwind of transfer activity as the summer window heads towards its climax.
The mighty Irons has been relatively quiet in recent windows, but a change of management and a clear focus on squad rebuilding has seen a dramatic shift in approach.
With the imminent arrivals of Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, and Guido Rodriguez, Aaron Wan Bissaka still in the pipeline coupled with the rumoured ongoing pursuit of another central defender, West Ham fans are on the cusp of a new era.
The signings represent a significant investment in the squad and demonstrate the club’s ambition to challenge for European places. The speed and efficiency with which these deals have been concluded is a stark contrast to previous transfer windows, signaling a new era of decisiveness at the London Stadium.
As reported by CandH since before the start of the summer window, West Ham wanted eight signings as part of Julen Lopetegui’s rebuild: Three are already here and another three are imminent.
So it is reasonable to expect two more new faces including a new central defensive partner for Max Kilman.
But that will probably mean Kurt Zouma or Nayef Aguerd, or indeed both, being sold first, if any takers are found for the Hammers’ former Captain who plays largely on one leg these days.
The likes of Danny Ings, Tomas Soucek and James Ward Prowse’s futures are still shrouded in uncertainty. Adding the Academy graduates and Andy Irving quite possibly heading out on loan, the very real possibility exists that some appearing in Claret and Blue tonight in Florida may well be making their last outings in Hammers’ colours, whether temporarily or on permanent deals.
Why is Antonio not included in the potential outs. Since he focused on social media he’s been even less consistent. He would surely be an attractive buy for one of the newly promoted clubs and for us the last opportunity for a pay day. Likely more sale able than Ings as well.
Honestly! I hate his stupid podcast comments that he makes, like you’re a professional football player mate, you can’t be putting even half as much effort into social media as you do into football, taking the club and the fan base for mugs
Personally I would like to see Antonio stay for one more season. He would still be a threat coming off the bench with 20 min to go.
Totally agree. He would be a menace and has the ability to massively affect a game from the bench. Plus he would share the workload with Fullkrug. Who else would we bring on to make an impact were Antonio to be sold? Ings?
Totally agree.
Apart from his wages what would he fetch? £3-4m.
He is a striker but has played in defense.
Front or back he can be a handful against tired legs, keep him.
Go look at his goal record recently. 8 last season. About half the prior two seasons and of course last year we had the European games. He isn’t focused enough these days.
Have any of these deals actually been concluded? No official announcements as yet.
Summerville has signed, 5 year contract + 1 year extention option
JWP has been a terrific signing. To get rid of him would be foolish.
