Whether Niclas Fullkrug wants to be ‘the main man’ at West Ham or not is largely irrelevant. At 32 the German isn’t fit enough for 90 + minutes week in, week out next season. The Hammers need new options in the goal scoring department – assuming of course Graham Potter actually selects a striker next season.
No Danny Ings, no Michail Antonio – and Jarrod Bowen’s goalscoring talent from his favoured right hand side – as brilliantly exhibited yesterday – must never be squandered again by being deployed as a makeshift centre-forward.
Rumours persist of new strikers- from the perennial Yuri Alberto to the new man of the moment Valentin Castellanos from Lazio: Like most West Ham fans, we’ll believe it when we see it.
Talking of ‘seeing it’ however, Hammers fans would have taken heart at the sight of teen prodigy Daniel Cummings widely reported and photographed at the London Stadium yesterday. It had all gone very quiet on that front so this is unlikely to have been purely a social call by the Celtic youngster. Rumoured to have signed a pre-agreement in January – but never confirmed – Cummings as an up and coming terrier is a massive addition.

Heading south this summer? Daniel Cummings was at the game yesterday
Of course West Ham have their own young terrier – excuse the pun – returning from his hugely successful loan at Huddersfield Town where he won the player of the season award: Callum Marshall at twenty is another bursting to make it into the seniors after his nine goals and three assists this season.
Whether or not both Cummings and Marshall make it through Potter’s pre-season into the squad for August, it is clear that the young guns are in the ascendency and will give Potter options next season: One frontline striker signing to compete with Fullkrug could give the Hammers FOUR front line options. Heady stuff indeed.
Finally.
I agree with a lot said but also reflect that they stopped us going into liquidation after the Icelandic flop. Also if we had stayed at Boleyn how many players would want to join us in this day and age of ever increasing stadium size. Just hope Sullivan keeps away for recruitment !!
Graham Potter should be keeping alot of these players as breaking up a good team won’t help every club have a good year and a bad one
Westham overpaid for an old injury prone impact striker sub not capable of performing for 90 minutes . Where’s the due diligence ? These facts were already well known by the football community . Would a quality striker want to sign for Westham under Potter ? Potter seems to be averse to playing a striker or indeed any offensive players . Potter’s strategy is inherently flawed in that he chooses to play through the press which should if successful become a fast break resulting in a shot , however Potter then slows down the play allowing the opposition defense to regroup and the opportunity is gone . This is risk WITHOUT REWARD . A recipe for relegation from a coach with obsolete ideas and not an ounce of creativity .
As a long time Hammers sufferer, sorry, fan, I long for the return of a strike force as good as Cottee & McAvennie. When that pair played, goals were expected and usually delivered every match.
And we have supposedly offered Antonio a new deal? Ridiculous if so. Love the guy but he had little to offer at the beginning of this season, same all of last season, so why is that going to change with being a year older and having to regain fitness after the crash?
And Brendan Rodgers has said Cummings not ready for first team football in a langue where they batter everyone week in week out. Don’t get your hopes up too much there either.
Rogers is desperate to keep him will say anything to put suitors off
Why has no one mention Luis Guillaume’s fifteen minute cameo against Nottingham Forest? He ignited the team from the minute he was on the pitch. Lets hope he stays and is given the chance to play more regularly.
you missed my 7.00 post then…..
Totally agree. I think he could well be an astute acquisition.
They dont normally rave about youngsters if there is nothing worth shouting about.
SULLIVAN AND BRADY OUT. LIES LIES LIES
Sorry, Martin, I know you are looking for positives but I’m afraid there aren’t any.
Sullivan and his cronies have destroyed this club.
RIP, West Ham United…..
Marshall scored 9 in 43 games in League 1… let’s not get carried away.
Relegation is all that we will see next season….Boards not interested fans don’t care anymore the soul has been ripped out of our club we are no longer West Ham United we are what other fans call us Wet Spam. thanks Sullivan thanks Brady why don’t you leave and go and buy Cardiff City…… you have AWB and Bowen left and if you can sell those two as well as Kudus and Pacman you will and scurry off with bags full of cash and for what? times limited you are not getting any younger just what does more money do for someone with so much of it already?
History repeating itself 😢
They did it to Birmingham and looks like we will be next!
“scurry off with bags full of cash and for what?” Some people live in a fantasy world made up of their hatred for Sullivan & Brady 🙄
Sullivan was a millionaire when he sold Upton park and became a billionaire overnight he had this planned from the moment he took us over and refused investment from two other millionaires actual fans in Tony Fernandes and Michael tabor it was never about football it was simply a real estate deal
Interesting theory, but I’ve never seen/heard any evidence or proof.
Sullivan (And Gold) are far wealthier outside of West Ham.
No one is scurrying off with bags of cash, there are accounts to file and auditors to verify this.
The hatred for GSB posted on this board is just depressing.
