Crysencio Summerville’s debut Premier League season hasn’t been at all as he’d have dreamed it: Largely ignored by Lopetegui he must have been genuinely excited and relieved to see Graham Potter at the helm. Just 45 minutes under the new manager and his season has come to a grinding half as his hamstring injury blights the young Hammer’s progress.
And now we understand he’s likely ‘finished|’ for the season.
Which will come as terrible news for everyone playing for, and watching West Ham – how much the supporters need a shot of excitement, of Summerville’s pace, just something to enjoy in a process of going through the motions in what has become a pretty turgid end-of-season.
One beneficiary from Summerville’s continual absence is Luis Guilherme, and it might just prove to be the saving of his West Ham career. The Young Brazilian, who was earmarked for sale in January until Potter stepped in at the 11th hour, has had a couple of good performances as substitute which would not have been open to him had Summerville been fit: Graham Potter now has to take decisions for his reshaped squad in the summer and with six more games to go it is likely Guilherme will have more opportunity to shine and tip the scales in his favour.

Guilherme – getting pitch-time to impress at last
IF the stories regarding possible Kudus sale are true, then Guilherme will be ready to step up and share the void created by the winger’s absence with Summerville. In that sense, ‘Cree’s’ injury has been to Guilherme’s benefit: Looking forward to seeing him get more minutes on the pitch and more influential in the result if the game tomorrow against Southampton: There have even been stories circulating that Luis Guilherme is a possible starter in Kudus’ place – which I’ll believe when I see it- but at least the young man is involved and growing into his Claret and Blue career.
Potter seems clueless at present, a diabolical performance against Southampton, where is this managers mind ?
I feel for Summerville, it’s been a season to forget from him.
With the expected clear-out of players, he’s got to be looking forward to 2025/6.
Guilherme is still a work in progress, he only just turned 19 FFS!
Let’s hope so !!!!!
Why does somebody need to be injured before he’s given more game time?
Class act waiting to be developed.
Is Potter just using him as a stop gap?
The carrot has been dangled so many times when he’s just sat on the bench.
He was so near to going out the door in January.
As we have so many players who can’t be left out of team he should be allowed to go on transfer.
Bristol seems ideal with Earthy returning.
