Tottenham travel to Sunderland this afternoon with a 2.00 pm kick off knowing that anything other than a win will keep them in the relegation zone. The north London side, on their third manager this season, are 18th after West Ham’s 4 – 0- battering of Wolves on Friday night lifted the Hammers above their rivals.

According to the yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, West Ham’s big defeat of Wolves has created a huge swing in the predicted outcome of the season’s relegation battle, which will serve as a warning to De Zerbi’s new side.

Mavropanos score for West Ham against Wolves

Mavropanos’ goals landed Tottenham back in the relegation zone for the first time since 2009

As Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Spurs all face their own challenges this weekend to match West Ham’s result, the ‘Yorkshire Evening Post’ reported that the ‘super computer’ they’ve been reporting on all season -that has consistently had the Hammers relegated in 18th – has now shifted:

Huge Leeds United, West Ham, Tottenham, Forest battle change in bookies’ predicted final Premier League table:

15th Leeds United –

16th Nottingham Forest

17th West Ham United

———————————————

18th – relegated – Tottenham Hotspur

19th – relegated – Burnley

20th – relegated – Wolverhampton Wanderers”

Much of course depends upon Spurs’ first outing under new boss De Zerbi this afternoon: Any hint of the defensive frailties which have bedevilled the Spuds’ season will send tremors through the side.

According to the nytimes.com,West Ham are showing the kind of consistency, unity and identity Tottenham desperately need.”

If there are signs of the ‘new manager bounce’ that every north London fan will be praying for, the predictions that West Ham will escape the drop may prove to be a trifle premature. Leeds and Spurs have to play each other ahead of West Ham’s final day showdown against Leeds and those two games could easily determine the final outcome for the Hammers.

Today, however, we are all Sunderland supporters.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Honestly, these supercomputer predictions are the biggest waste of time ever and I don’t know why any stock is put into them at all.

Just go back to the start of the season and look at what it said after 10,000 simulations and the average positions it came up with.

Know how many teams occupy those positions? 0 out of 20.

For the record, Liverpool would be champions again with Sunderland bottom, Leeds 19th and Burnley 18th.

I would just like to say don’t get carried away.
Games you are often expecting to win you lose and same as ones you don’t really expect to win you get something from the game.Let’s just worry on our own results and go all out.
Would just like to say about the dressing room problem at half-time that Bowen sorted, you must stick together and encourage, no one is messing up passes on purpose. We are all on the same side.
Jarrod would like to see you more verbal on the pitch. You as captain are entitled to have a go if someone is not pulling their weight but at the same time encouragement can go a long way.
Let’s all stick together and pull together as a team and encourage us ach other after things happen on the pitch, don’t wait until half time. If someone needs a kick up the pants, tell them but in a nice way
The fans were brilliant, keep it going, as much noise as you can make.

I really do not know how these supercomputers work, it has been obvious for a long time that our form is better than that of a bottom three team, we’ve been making up points from behind that’s all.

Forest and Leeds are plodding along steadily showing the form of bottom of the league teams.

It’s Tottenham who have been on the abysmal hardly picking up any points at all form and they have been for a long time.

You do not need any sort of computer to say that unless forms change on what they have been it’s Tottenham going down and we will move above both Forest and Leeds.

Forms need to change for that not to happen. They might change but they do have to change for it not to happen.

That ‘super computer’ is overrated and really a waste of time. Whichever team happens to be in 18th place at any time is the team that the ‘super computer’ says will be relegated along with Burnley and Wolves. A normal non-super human can come up with that brilliant prediction. Doh!
