Amongst all the gloomy pontifications of a deadline day without new signings – until the on-off-on-off loan deal for Axel Disasi went into overtime, one small but possibly significant event took place away from the main media spotlight: West Ham’s latest ‘wonderkid’ made his debut for the under 21’s.

Keiber Lamadrid, the Venezuelan 22 year old who has inherited Luis Guilherme’s ‘wonderkid‘ status – provided a 45 minute cameo for a YouTube audience seemingly largely teeming with Venezuelan viewers last night as West Ham’s development side travelled to Middlesboro u21’s.

And of course, Lamadrid scored on his debut. Whoever writes his scripts was on fine form last night as the debutant scored with a left footed shot from the ‘D’ to put the Hammers two up in a crazy, five goal first half.

Whilst the young man is still in his own pre-season fitness wise, he showed fine touches and some decent speed and impressed spectators and tv audience alike

Have the feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more about this young talent who came on a six month loan with option to purchase. As he told BBC.co.uk when he signed:

“I’m excited to grow as a person, as a player, and I want to do well at this club. I want to adapt as quickly as possible, to continue growing as a player and open doors again for Venezuelan football. Nothing is impossible”

From first showing last night, he’s well on the way.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Yet another “wonder kid ” or as I call them wondering kid, can only hope he will be treated better than Guilherme was, if he is any good, West Ham will soon change that , he will either be loaned out or moved on , let’s hope it works 🙏🏻

Put him on the bench , we’ve got nothing to lose and need all the help the team can get . 60 years a fan and cannot believe how this club has been driven into the ground , years of poor buys ,old players and a small squad. Let’s hear a statement from our glorious leaders to explain what they’ve done all season is going to end with us staying in the premiership. As somebody commented earlier PATHETIC

This lad has played a lot of games at senior level and is already a full International. I know it is only Venezuela, but from the videos I have seen of him he looks an excellent prospect. His goal was typical of him. Something I never saw in Guilherme.

I hope the fans get behind him.
