Westfield barricades go up ahead of game

image1 (26)This was the sight outside Westfields shopping centre this morning as preparations were made to direct people attending tonight’s game away from the centre itself.

Access to the centre will  be barricaded off and the small entry to the shops will be manned by staff enforcing the no entry plan.

A West Ham source told ClaretandHugh: ” Barriers are being put in place now because its harder to do when the shops are open and the area is full of people.

“Stewards and signage will direct fans to take this route via Montfitchet Way. Up to an hour before kick-off people are free to go anyway but from one hour before kick-off everyone will be directed that way.”

She added: “The Stadium looks incredible by the way – I think fans are going to love it!”

  1. Shame isn’t it that there are a minority of football fans that make this sort of thing necessary, not just at ours but at most clubs ?

  2. I don’t think they’re worried about trouble as such, just that the thought of thousands of football fans descending on to a busy shopping centre would cause chaos to say the least. What is annoying is that if you want to go and have a meal or meet the missus after the game you’ll have to go all the way round.

  3. i,m sure as time goes by things will improve i think it is just the dont know factor atm new stadium new shopping center and all that.

  4. I think it’s to keep all the chavs in Westfield, not the fans out lol
