What a difference a week makes

I have just returned from Chicago and what a difference a week makes in the West Ham world.  Having missed home losses against Bournemouth and Wolves as I was on holiday in Spain and missing the Chelsea game at the London Stadium as I was on a stag weekend in Prague  I faced a diary clash yet again as I flew to Chicago for a wedding as West Ham faced Manchester United.

I felt like an American West Ham fan as I set my alarm for 5.3oam in the morning for a 6.30am kick-off and I was rewarded for my early wake-up call with a goal after 5 minutes. I was really gutted I missed this game as many season ticket holders who were there said it was the best game in a long while for atmosphere in the London Stadium proving it is people thing and not a bricks and mortar thing.

My only comfort is I went to the West Ham v Macclesfield cup game the day before I flew to Chicago to watch eight West Ham goals go in at the London Stadium, only 23,000 supporters made the mid-week game meaning many season ticket holders didn’t bother. As I told season ticket holders around me in the West stand, I am still four West Ham goals up on them as they have only seen four goals this season with their four games to my eight from one.

I wonder what odds bookies would have given for a treble correct score of Chelsea 0-0 Macclesfield 8-0 and Manchester United 3-1?

Several hundred to one I would wager!

Thankfully I have no diary clashes for the Spurs game and I can’t wait for my first West Ham home Premier League game of the season.

COYI and bring on Brighton and Spurs!
