Well known for his famous ‘Here we go’ on transfers that get over the line – but breaking the news before clubs and most other ‘in the know’ journalists, Fabrizio Romano has gained a reputation for having his finger on the pulse and of course is a very close contact of West Ham United’s technical director Tim Steidten: So, when Romano offers updates to the Jhon Duran saga and potential suitors who are interested – we all sit up and take notice.

Having failed – for reasons which are still shrouded somewhat in mystery – to sign the Colombian goal scoring prodigy in the Summer from Aston Villa, The Hammers have been forced to come to terms with the double whammy of ‘alternative’ purchase Niclas Fullkrug limping sick-bay bound during the international break plus increasing stories of other clubs circling to compete for Duran’s signature if Villa decide to cash in during the January window.

Fabrizio Romano, in his ‘daily briefing’ 27th September, confirmed that Barcelona interest is ongoing but as yet there are ‘no active negotiations‘ between the La Liga giants and Aston Villa or the player’s agents. This following on our earlier article confirming that Barcelona aren’t the only club interested in pursuing a bid for Duran:  Inter Milan Chelsea and Newcastle are reportedly considering a bid in the January window which is scarily just over twelve weeks away!

However, often of course this talk of ‘other clubs bidding’ is just agent speak or club speak to garner higher offers for their players. Whilst ‘No formal negotiations’ remains the status of interest from Barca, West Ham might just be in with a shout.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

  • Jeremy Templeman says:

Why would Duran take the step down to West Ham? He is playing regularly now albeit coming off the bench most of the time.

He will continue to get game time at Villa this season. Nonsense article.

  • StefftheVillan says:

You do understand that the previous price has now increased somewhat due to Durans continuing top rate goal scoring form, you had your chance and you blew it.

    • Hammeroo says:

Ah yes, but we bought a Fullkrug for just over half the price of a Duran.
Unfortunately though it turned out that we only got a Halfkrug after all.
You win some and you lose some. We lost.

  • Phil Baker says:

Westham wasted their money on another slow , old donkey Fulkrug and so now have 3 number 9 donkeys in the pasture . Villa won’t sell Duran for less than 50 million now and Duran won’t be interested in a relegation battle under a coach who has no grasp of viable Premier League tactics .Westham have employed a mediocre ex goalkeeper who doesn’t have the skill to coach a boys team as proven by the games played so far and by the fact that Real Madrid sacked him after 14 games because he was so worthless . A good power point presentation doesn’t make a good coach and hopefully Sullivan sacks him during the international break . If a coach is unemployed it’s because he’s crap , so don’t employ another loser .

  • Martyn says:

I actually think that short of a good younger attacking minded coach and a striker like Duran, we would be a very decent side. Let’s do it!
