West Ham United were certainly linked with an incredible array – over 100 at the last count – of frontmen in the January window. Replacements for Antonio and Fullkrug were sought from domestic and international leagues and the Hammers finally got Potter’s man in Evan Ferguson with the deadline day loan sorting the problem for now.
One of the more audacious attempts to bring in an attacker from La Liga concerns Real Madrid’s Brazilian teen prodigy Endrick who was apparently the subject of West Ham’s attentions. Reported in Tribal Football.
“West Ham were one of the clubs who tried to land the 18-year-old and made contact with the Spanish giants. The Hammers also made contact with Endrick’s representatives, however, their approach fell flat. Unfortunately for West Ham, Real insisted that they had no desire to allow Endrick to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.”
Full marks for flair and audacity.
No doubting the player’s quality, his manager Carlo Ancelotti’s summed him up as”A proper striker, especially dangerous in tight spaces.”
The report does not, however, detail exactly how West Ham planned to pay for the deal to land the 18 year old mini-superstar: On rebuttal, West Ham did go onto bid £57 million for Duran from Aston Villa, payable on the ‘never-never’ so presumably that was the plan behind the Endrick approach.
Hardly surprising that Real Madrid weren’t interested then.
This is typical Sullivan – not only was this ever going to happen, but Endrick probably isn’t what we need at all.
How can he go to wanting to get rid of an ‘unproven Brazilian teenager’ in Guilherme, but wanting to sign an unproven Brazilian teenager in Endrick (who can’t get a game for Real Madrid). It just stinks of Sullivan’s old tricks.
It’s just a ‘big name’ for Sullivan to massage his pathetic ego over. It’s his belief that us fans believe his whole ‘ah…we tried’ narrative every single transfer window.
I’ve said it before, but we will never progress long term as a club with Sullivan at the helm.
And how do you know it was Sullivan who pursued this player? I’m guessing he would never even have heard of him. The hatred for Sullivan by people must be eating them up inside. Pathetic.
Because he does this every, single season going back 10 years? Because he openly stated he was taking back control of transfers? Because he can’t help himself when it comes to any player/manager who’s been at Real Madrid?
The hatred for Sullivan is justified. People standing up for him after his continuously horrendous decision making is, genuinely, remarkable.
haven’t seen one person standing up for Sullivan on here. not one! certainly not the bloke that both you and i responded to. he was merely pointing out that some of you might be developing stomach ulcers from the bile that’s fermenting inside you.
agreed. surprised he and mr. crawford didn’t use the disgustingly offensive “dwarf” insult on this occasion, like so many others do. Crawford claims he’s not thick as s**t but can’t even put a coherent sentence together. i’m no Sullivan fan but some of our supporters are clearly unhinged.
Endrick is a good mate of Guilherme. Both played together in Brazil so makes total sense.
Correct both out of same academy.
Have potentially both have same qualities.
Need to be satisfied we’ve got Guilherme.
The skies are the limit but Sully has short arms.
sullivan jackanory
Another Sullivan we tried crap I’m getting fed up of hearing all this stuff . The same every year the 57 million bid for Duran haha .like potter said after the Chelsea game west ham fans are knowledgeable and knowledgeable there stuff I wished Sullivan knew that because he thinks we are as thick as **** I’m telling you now Sullivan we ain’t get out of our club 15 years it’s enough go and get another club and **** them off like you done at Birmingham and now us .
Sullivan in his element, playing show and tell by apparent interest but no real attempt or means of getting it done.
