Where Super Sunday can leave the Irons

|

slavbadgeWin, lose or draw, tomorrow’s game against Swansea will have only a marginal effect on the Irons’ current eighth league position.

Watford, currently one place above us in seventh place, can push themselves onto 28 points if they beat Liverpool at Vicarage Road, one point behind Palace following their win at Stoke today.

A draw would give them 26 points, two ahead of us before we kick off at 4pm at the Liberty Stadium.

Should the Reds – currently level on points with the Hammers -win or draw then we shall need to match their result in order to hold onto eighth place although goal difference could intervene.

A win down in Wales will do us the power of good and take our points tally to 27 and seventh place should Watford fail to win.

Spurs stretched out to five points in front of us with a win at Saints today although neither Stoke or Everton made any ground having both been beaten at home by Palace and leaders Leicester City.

Lose and we’ll be seven points off a relegation place. That is the bottom line. This is West Ham and we have a built in habit of cocking it up. Some of the away wins have been unheard of but look at our appalling defeats this season. I’m still worried and won’t be happy until we get nearer the that 40 point mark.

Pick the problems out of those comments,
Great to see most fans positive and agree 6 points in the next 2 games would put us in touch with most hard away games gone,

Hi all some really interesting comments above and agree with most of them but we will win at least two out of the next three games by that time some of our injury problems will be solved and for the first time in a long while our second half of the season will be better than our first have faith . Hammers boy since 1945

We supporters must remember that this team has just been put together and is learning the ways of Bilic and vice versa with his players !!
This season is a forerunner for next year which may hold a few shocks in store !
There’s some big decisions to be made ! be it 2 or 3 players coming in with the addition of the oxfords , Samuelsons , Cullen,s obiangs and a few more that could be mentioned ,
But one thing is for shore it is going to take time , two or three seasons maybe ?
Be prepared for some players moving on for game time or some who are surplus for requirements ?
Not everyone is going to be happy from supporters to players , but that’s the nature of today’s game !
There’s far to much money in the game and IMO has taken the loyalty out of the game, but that’s a completely different subject to be getting on !!
For the time being carol , Valencia ,jelovich and sakho are the ones for this season up front
With only 2 of the four fit ,
I would play Valencia from the off up front and bring jelly to the party if needed !
    That’s a Bilic decision !!!

Well , not all the results did us any favours . Spurs and Palace wins have made the Swansea game all the more important if we want to stay in touch . Games are starting to look like ” must wins” suddenly . It is far better to be ahead on points than GD , so let’s just go for it against Swansea .
Can’t agree with you , aykay ; It’s not a case of Carroll not suiting our system .. Our system changed a bit through necessity due to injuries and Carroll fits that system perfectly . Some players are due back and maybe then we will see Carroll being used more as an impact substitute . , but to sell him would be suicide . Don’t want to imagine Carroll heading the ball into the back of the net against us .

Is this the same Kevin that said BFS will keep Sunderland up?? Chelsea 3-Sunderland 1.Why would your highest paid player be only useful and that is debatable as an impact sub?? For the money he is paid he would want to be an impact in the first 45 minutes. Hasn’t really set the world alight but is a trier.IMHO

Im hoping and praying that bfs or newcastle come in with a decent bid for andy carroll in january , he just doesnt fit into our system even though he works his socks off , then we can go out and get a striker that would improve us. I like the look of simone zaza .if we had a striker thats puts in a shift like sakho , isnt as injury prone and actually gets on the score sheet more often when payet and co are back we will be fearsome …..
    Adrian.
    Tomkins,reid,ogbonna,cresswell
    Song , kouyate
    Lanzini , payet, antonio
    ? ….
