Whisper it but Irons look for an incredible outcome

It’s difficult to see where David Moyes goes in team selection at the weekend for a game which very few will be expecting anything from.

However, the incredible hope is of course that the Irons are seeking a double over Liverpool which would be the first in many many years. Wouldn’t that be a typical West Ham outcome.

It could be argued that he gambled and lost when selecting close to his strongest starting line-up for the game against Southampton and has few other options available for Saturday.

Rotation t any real effect looks difficult for such as Tomas Soucek, Ben Johnson and Pablo Fornals for example wioth few making any real impacyt on their appearances from the bench.

Saifd Benrahma was disappointing when he appeared and Nikola Vlasic still has to make any impression at all.

The one player who did do really well compared to several performances this season was Issa Diop and whether the boss finds a place for him will be very interesting indeed.

Here’s the likely team: Fabianski; Johnson, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek, Lanzini, Fornals, Bowen, Antonio.

  1. It’s going to take me a while to get over last night! One interesting point which you touched on, and I was thinking during the game…

Benrahma – I feel like he has been given his chance, and like him as much as I do, he doesn’t have an end product. He isn’t a game changer for me.

Vlasic – Similar, although I accept he hasn’t had anything like enough mins, but from what I’ve seen, he hasn’t convinced me either.

So for me, those two are unproven, despite getting ‘some’ mins. But….what about Oko-Flex, Perkins and Chester? They too are unproven, but with barely any minutes, why an earth didn’t we try and get them on for 25 mins or so last night and just see what happens? I never felt Benny or Vlasic would get us back in it, so why not try something new.

All is not lost though, I love this West Ham team, we’re so much more defiant than we have been for such a long time, better on the ball, better confidence, better mentally, better technically and worth our dedication I just wish we tried something fresh and gave these youngsters a chance. I do trust that Moyes will push us on further, we just have to remain patient.
