West Ham United right-back Vladimir Coufal’s future at the club is under scrutiny as Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray reportedly eyes a summer move for the defender, according to Aspor.
Coufal’s current contract with the Hammers runs until 2025. While this offers West Ham some security in negotiations, they appear keen on recouping a transfer fee for the 31-year-old.
Earlier this year, West Ham triggered a one-year contract extension clause in Coufal’s deal, reportedly causing friction with the player who felt he deserved a pay rise.
Following the conclusion of the Euros, Galatasaray is expected to open talks with West Ham to explore the possibility of signing Coufal. This reported interest adds another layer of uncertainty to the defender’s future at the London Stadium
However, the Hammers might already have a plan B in place. Al-Hilal right-back Saud Abdulhamid has emerged as a cost-effective option to fill the void if Coufal departs.
A clearer picture of Coufal’s future is likely to emerge soon after he returns from international duty with the Czech Republic national team.
