Wilshere contract decision

|

West Ham have no intention of doing a pay off deal with Jack Wilshere should he continue to suffer injury problems or loss of form.

The midfielder has made just 14 PL appearances since joining the club prompting suggestions of a loan deal or mutual arrangement allowing him to find a new club.

There was a time a few years back when doing deals with such as Modibo Maiga ( remember him?) when such a deal was almost on the cards in his last season.

That’s not on the cards now for Wilshere, who remains a valued member of the squad by the boss,  or any other Hammer.

A well placed insider insisting the club will honour its contracts with all player whatever the prevailing circumstances.

Jack – with a £100,000 a week pay deal – would stand to earn nearly £5 million in the last year of his deal but the club are not interested in paying him a smaller sum up front and allowing him to leave.

Our insider told us by e mail: “We honour contracts and make no decision on ending or extending until them until they are approaching their end.”

Hugh I fathom to understand why you right so many article about this player. In my opinion articles on more prudent topics like a change of formation, the lack of support for Haller up top, the treatment of Anderson last weekend etc. would be much better articles to write than continually writing about this guy and putting him up on a pedestal. When we talk about players coming back from injuries we should be talking about players like Fab, Antonio, Reid and Silva who have the potential to play in the first team. Wilshere unfortunately no longer fits into this category.

    • Blimey I’m going through the mill today. I have written about all these things you mention John. The story was really NOT about him playing for the first team again more about “What the hell are we gonna do with him” Hope that helps

Talking of formation we could try Rice at the back again where he was brilliant, not just very good, as he is at the moment. ie. play 3. with Fredericks and Arthur bringing pace to the flanks. Nobes, Anderson and Lanzini midfield, and Yarmo plus Haller up front. That team could beat most. Sorry for not mentioning Wilshire, Fornals, Feghouli, Martinez etc.

Cannot possibly consider him a valued member of the Squad ; sorry Hugh . Hasn’t contributed anything and doesn’t look as if he ever will . Get the the best price that might appear on the table and say goodbye .

  • Kevin says:

In actual fact Carroll was a far better gamble than Wilshere . Probably better than Haller .
Haller fails to get onto anything , it’s not just the system alone .
And Moyes should have been given more time . I believe that the players we have out on loan would have been first team players under Moyes , and Alladyce for that matter . West Ham have made some Massive mistakes Over the years and Wilshere / Pelligrini is just the tip of the Iceberg . One physically damaged and the other in ignorance .

I have never met Hugh or Sean for that matter – but I find Claret and Hugh my go to site. Yesterday Westhamonline.net copped some flak – but it used to be my go to site when Vinny wrote match reports (before as I remember BFS killed off his enthusiasm)

I think that it is very simple – if you dont think a topic is worthy of a post then you are free not to read it. I am grateful not to have to raed match reports that obviously come from one source and are then posted / printed by a number of websites

So Hugh many of us do appreciate you – please dont get put off by the snipers

With you all the way Kevin, re Allardyce and Moyes, especially the latter who should never have been let go. I think the game plan by the two midgets was to get a well-known foreign manager in, a few expensive foreign signings to show our intent , making us reasonably attractive to a potential buyer; I don’t think the current ‘has been’ manager will be here next season, and certainly the owners will also be hoping to have sold us on in the not too distant future, imho . In other words, we’ve been sold a kipper, and I just hope we don’t eventually end up in the same situation as the likes of Coventry City??
