Wilshere update

Jack Wilshere is on target to return to the Hammers first team squad within a month.

The midfielder – having undergone surgery on his ankle could now  to be back in time for the game against Burnley on November 3.

Wilshere has been out of action since the home defeat against Wolves when it was discovered that a screw had loosened in his ankle from previous surgery whilst at Arsenal.

He was admitted to hospital and underwent a new procedure soon afterwards with head of medical Richard Collinge claiming he would only need a short period of rest and rehab.

With Manu Lanzini now kicking balls again and Winston Reid looking to return in January the only long long term problem surrounds Carlos Sanchez.

But assuming there are no injuries from the internationals involving our players this week and next we will be in decent shape for the visit of Spurs on the 20th.

  1. He will have a fight on his hands to get back in the team as things stand, which is probably the kick up the backside he needs.

  2. Hopefully the loose screw was the reason for his slow start to his West Ham career even before he got injured. If it is then fixed, we should see the Wilshere of the previous 2 years at Arsenal and Bournemouth, and he will become a real asset.

  3. Wilshere hasn’t suddenly become bad player . He has demonstrated over his career just how good a player he can be . Maybe a drop of Locktite 575 screw lock will sort it . Must be more than just a bit painful playing with a loose screw in the Ankle . Would love to him showing the kind of form he is capable of . All hands to the pumps ; we need all the fit players we can muster at the moment …. think about it , no Carroll , no Lanzini , no Wilshere , no Ried ., together with out of form Masuaku & Cresswell . An older player in Zabaleta and a youngster in Rice . We are a threat waiting to explode onto the Premiership . We can have a good season this time out but don’t expect too much . But I think we can expect to do more than just survive .

    • No you are right he hasn’t just become a bad player, he has become a terrible player. He is useless and has been a terrible purchase. I also believe he was always blown up to be a player he never was. Bournemouth did not want to resign him that should have been enough for us to say thanks but no thanks. I am glad 100K a week is not coming out of my pocket. My only fear is that Pelle will want to justify this and put him back in the team. If this happens we will be back to losing games like the first four games of the season. I just hope Pelle has the honour to recognise his mistake here and leave him on the bench even better out of the squad. I never rated him before we signed and ever since he has signed I am even more convinced he is a terrible signing.
