Winger looks likely to miss Man United clash

|

By Gonzo

Reports are suggesting that West Ham’s £17m winger Maxwel Cornet could be unavailable for the Hammers Cup clash at Old Trafford this week.

Manager David Moyes had hinted that the former Lyon star had looked sharp and fit during training, but may require game time in the U21’s to regain full fitness.

I had hoped that Manchester United clash would be the ideal opportunity to give the returning players a much needed run-out. With important games against Brighton and the Europa Conference League on the horizon, nobody would blame David Moyes for resting his preferred players in the FA Cup.

The fixture would provide an excellent platform for players such as Cornet, Kurt Zouma and Gianluca Scamacca to get up to full speed.

The news about Cornet’s unavailability for the Man U clash could mean he features in tonight’s U21 fixture against Brighton. Were he to feature in that game it’s safe to assume that the Hammers manager would be unlikely to play him two days later in the cup.

Let’s hope Moyes picks an attacking team. I would switch to a back 5 but still make it attacking and I would go two up top and give Bowen a rest. Here is my team Areola, Johnson, Kehrer, Aguerd, Ogbonna, Emerson, Rice, Fornals, Paqueta, Scamacca and Antonio.
