Winston completes an hour as young Irons lose out

Scully among the goals

Winston Reid completed 64 minutes of the Under 23s game against Wolfsburg B in tonight’s Premier International Cup match.

The central defender , playing his first serious game in 19 months, came off after the normally allotted time for such returns having produced the usual calm performance at the back.

It’s good news for manager Manuel Pellegrini and the squad as the Kiwi – having been training with the under 23s – now prepares to force his way through into starting recognition.

Reidy was as calm and composed as we have come to expect but finished up a loser with the Hammers being beaten in the final seconds of a five goal thriller.

It means that they ave collected three points from their first two games courtesy of a 1-0 win over Valencia earlier in the season.

The Hammers goals came from Joe Powell and Tony Scully but a late strike from Justavan killed off their hopes of a what would have been a well earned point.
