Winter window creates squad disaster
West Ham’s lack of transfer activity in the winter window has created a disaster leaving the club with with a squad of just 22 players – the thinnest in the Premier League!
That’s an astonishing and deeply worrying situation given that we now have no left winger and two strikers who are on,. hand out of form and on the other injured – Ings and Antonio.

What makes the position even worse is that Claret and Hugh understands that manager David Moyes was disinterested in signing a striker.
At the time we reported that to be the case and it has since been confirmed again to us as Kalvin Phillips was his number one priority .
That was despite the fact that at the time prior to his arrival we had more than enough midfielders on the books in James Ward Prowse. Edson Alvarez,. Lucas Paqueta, Tomas Soucek, Mohammed Kudus Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals.
It also means that as things stand two of our currently most ineffective players – Ings and Phillips – are also two of our most highly paid.
We also understand that despite numerous strikers being put to the manager he made it clear that he would prefer better but was prepared to make do with those he had.
There is no misapprehension in the fact by the way that whilst he and Tim Steidten get along as people, the technical director does become frustrated with the managers hesitancy on the signing front.
