Wolves 3-0 West Ham
Ordinarily, I wouldnāt bother with an introduction to the player ratings. However, this has to be one of the most humbling reality checks I can remember as a West HamĀ fan.
Tactically and physically, we simply were not at the races, and in all honesty, it is difficult to rank anyone with any real conviction. Quite why Earthy and Pablo remained on the bench for so long when a goal was desperately needed is an absolute mystery.
Areola:4 Important save to stop it being 3-0 but had to pick the ball out of the back of the net moments later. As crazy as it sounds, didn’t have too much to do.
Walker Peters:5 Struggled early in the game as the home team broke down his flank. Tried to attack in the second half but slim pickings.
Mavropanos:4 Important interception in the second minute as the start of an end to end match. Moments later allowed Hwang too much time to get his cross completed for the goal. Too slow for Wolves third in the first half. Looked shell-shocked by the end.
Kilman:3 Will be picked out for the early Wolves opener but there appeared to be no support from his midfielders and Arias made a late run into the box. Completely fluffed his clearance in the build-up to Wolves second. Scary how bad he is at defending.
Scarles:4 Given a tough afternoon against Wolves faster players. Never gave up but struggled.
Magassa:2 Not great in the build-up to Wolves opener after only three minutes. Conceded a penalty which Hwang dispatched to make it 2-0 after 30 mins. Too easily bypassed as Mane scored Wolves 3rd. Had the Hammers only meaningful shot of a truly awful first half.
Potts:3 On freekick and corner duty but little to justify the responsibility. Had a poor game but far from the only one. Subbed at half time.
Fernandes:5 Tried his best and never stopped running but must be wondering what he’s signed up to.
Bowen:3 A passenger in a game in which Nuno Espirito Santo’s team were completely embarrassed. It was worrying quite how off the pace he was.
Summerville:6 Won the ball brilliantly in the first minute to create a half chance for Potts as West Ham began the game with intensity. Seemed to get injured early in the game as he was sandwiched between two Wolves players. Shook it off and was the only West Ham player at the start of the game to really trouble the Molineux crowd.
Wilson:3 Not involved as West Ham’s attacked failed to fire. Honestly, I barely noticed him, probably noy his fault given the lack of creativity. Amazed to still see him on the pitch after 90 mins.
Substitutes
Soucek:4 Swapped for Potts at half time. Played in a midfield two after switching to three at the back. Rarely in a position to crash the box.
Mayers:5 On for Magassa. Didn’t do too much wrong as Wolves sat back on their 3-0 lead. At least had the pace when needed.

Areola was our only decent player. Made some great saves to stop it being 4 5 6 nil. Areola is the only player who can hold his head up high after that game.
Yes I watched this dreadful contribution and in 68 years, I’ve sadly seen a few, but having dreamt last night that 2 wins against Wolves & Forest would see us out of the relegation places, this one takes the biscuit.
I finally realise Tuesday night is going to be a tough ask to leave the house to travel to see this shower
Two things ….
Fantasy Premier League had the top defensive contribution by Bowen — that’s a disgrace, the guy must be wondering why….
West Ham and the players should refund every fan who went today, the costs of their travel, food and football ticket
Am 81years old, Watching us since starting work 1959, home, away to London clubs, evening games, most embarrassing game I have seen in all those years,Nuno out, he must go, players simply cannot want to play for him for whatever reason!
We are Championship material now, simply embarrassing, travelling supporters should be reimbursed with added compensation for their wonderful support watching that tripe in freezing conditions!
Watched on streaming until HT then switched off & I was in the warm!!
Why is everyone so negative? Weāve only lost one game in 2026
Something very very wrong in our club, we had one team that was supposedly too good to go down and went down, and now we have some very good players who donāt seem to want to play and look like they are going down! Who donāt they want to play for? For the manager? For the club? For the fans? If I was fit I could get in that team and Iām 85!!!
I’m afraid without a leader in the team there is nobody to kick arse on the pitch. Sadly Bowen is wrong to wear the armband at the moment they need to take that weight off his shoulders. The Team needs leaders at the back, in the middle. It should be the number one signing to generate team spirit without that we are as good as relegated.
Well thatās that then, I saw it was 3-0 at halftime, and amazed we kept a clean sheet in the second half
50 years following West Ham and that is right up there as the most inept, gutless performance i have seen.Begs the question have they been on the festive lash or do they just not care now.?.Hard to see how the manager survives this as so much is wrong i do not know where to begin.
We all know that we need a good centre back maybe 2.Golambekis would have coped better than those 2 clowns today.I know we are short on fire power but the centre of defence has been appalling this season.Todibo has improved but without him these 2 are hopeless.Biggest problem is any decent CB would be very reluctant to come to us right now.
Areola made some decent saves, this could have been 7 or 8 – Nil today
Can’t agree with you Gonzo. I thought Scarles was our best player, and felt Potts was OK. Summerville is a waste of space, no end product .
Scarles was awful, but so was everyone else.
Far too generous, Nuno has to go as he is not getting a reaction from players, we need 2 CB NOW but think it’s too late,
Well, this is it. It is not the fact that we were beaten, it was how we played. We didn’t.
Relegation appears to be almost certain unless we get some fantastic buys this window
Generous ratings Gonzo.
Was there an attempt on target ? I don’t remember one. We are blowing out in the most comprehensive way imaginable, one point from three crucial games is diabolical.
Wolves sat back and absorbed what we didn’t have in the second half. It does not get worse than that.
Terrible, simply terrible. Can’t wait to hear all the post match interviews from nuno and the players where they state “we know we have to improve and we will be working hard to make those improvements”
What an embarrassing day. A terrible game, and one more in a seemingly never ending series of lost games for West Ham. The irons hit rock bottom today and showed no reaction. Sloppy possession in midfield and a leaky defense, facilitated Wolves counterattacks and goals. West Hamās attack in the end never got quite going, offered little or was ineffective in the way of a threat, and was thus unable -at any point- to find their way back into the game. In midst of an overall poor performance, collectively Magassa, Potter and Fernandez probably had their worst game for the irons today. The end result came as a logical consequence of West Hamās lack of ideas and the home teamās much stronger will to win this game.
