Wolves v West Ham United | Nuno’s big call over Pablo Felipe starting

West Ham travel to Molineux for an absolutely vital bottom-of-the-table clash this afternoon knowing that nothing less than three points will suffice against the Premier League’s bottom side.

If the Hammers have hope at all of closing the gap on Nottingham Forest and the rest of the league then today is truly a must-win game.

It also sets the tone in the West Ham boardroom for the rest of the transfer window: Three points and the board will feel that the seventeenth spot could be up for grabs next week and there’s all to play (and pay ) for ..Lose and any remaining transfers might well go on the back burner if West Ham sink further away from the sides above them, the board deciding to hold off on further expenditure – such as a much needed centre back – if West Ham are going to remain mired in the relegation zone.

New signing Pablo Felipe is indeed eligible having been registered just in time:

West Ham’s newest number 19 goes straight into the match day squad but not the starting eleven, which is a big call from West Ham’s manager: No Paqueta – who evidently hasn’t recovered from his back problem so Crysencio Summerville gets a recall. It seems Kyle Walker – Peters passed a late fitness test but not sure he’ll go the full 90.

West Ham United

Areola | Walker Peters, Kilman, Mavropanos, Scarles | Potts, Magassa, Fernandes | Summerville, Bowen, Wilson

We’ll be back at the final whistle with ‘Gonzo’s player ratings’ and my ‘Nuno-rated or slated’ article so – see you at 5! Come on you irons!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Absolutely clueless. I hope no more excuses for Ollie Scarles, he is having another disaster, but he is not alone. West Ham really are that bad and as I said before, the stars have aligned for Wolves first win. I can’t remember the last time Summerville actually produced a chance. He is so weak you fear for his safety. Everybody, including Bowen, giving the ball away freely. Surely that is it.

Scarles last touch of the 1st half sums it up for me. Straight to Wolves. Nuno has to try something? Anything? This is painful and I can’t remember us playing so bad and not fighting/trying? Championship here we come.

Wow, that’s the worst 1st half performance. What has happened to WHU. Not fit to wear the shirt

Potts and Scarles are not ready for the Premiership, nowhere near ready? Bring them on for 10/15 minutes but do not start them. Wolves haven’t won a game all season then we turn up, absolutely pathetic/embarrassing. Definitely championship next season, only positive is hopefully Sullivan will be forced to sell. Feel gutted. We’ve not had a shot??? Speechless ⚒️⚒️⚒️

Finally!! I think this is the best team we could put out at the moment. Makes sense to me that we’ll be winning by 60 minutes, then we can sub Wilson for Pablo and kill the game off, rather than go defensive and hand Wolves the win.

I’m just hoping he doesn’t bring on Soucek at some point. Nuno has brought him off the bench in the last four games in which he has offered absolutely nothing
