West Ham wait for a result

If Wolves beat Everton, West Ham stay up

Having won at home to Manchester United 13 days ago, and then subsequently losing to Brentford, very little changed in terms of the landscape of the Premier League’s fight for survival.

However, heading into the weekend, while West Ham’s survival feels as good as certain, with already relegated Southampton and Leicester City both unable to catch them, as things stand, only Everton and Leeds can finish above West Ham, but both sides need perfect ends to the season to do so.

Before West Ham host a Leeds side managed by ex-Hammers boss Sam Allardyce, Wolverhampton Wanderers, whose side includes former West Ham centre-back Craig Dawson, can do the Hammers a favour.

Wolves host Everton at Molineux on Saturday and should they prevent the Toffees from picking up all three points, West Ham’s safety will be officially guaranteed.

However, if Wolves lose to the Toffees, West Ham’s game against Leeds will mean that safety will be guaranteed if they get a point or more.

With Everton five points behind West Ham, they can only catch them if they win their last two matches and West Ham lose both of theirs.

Leeds can only catch West Ham and overtake them if they win both of their last two games, West Ham lose theirs and Leeds overturn the current 11-goal difference in West Ham’s favour.

  1. I’m delighted with the Brentford result… no, not last weekend, beating Tottenham at WHL…!! 😀

  2. You’re forgetting Forest. Even if Eventon win, if Forest lose we’re safe as no way they could swing the huge GD deficit in one game.

  3. Forest can also catch us

  4. Never underestimate West Ham’s capacity to screw things up. We lose at home tomorrow and a heavy defeat could wipe out the goal difference between whu and Leeds. Then we lose away to Leicester and Leeds beat Spurs and suddenly it’s hello Championship. The team owes the fans a really good performance and win tomorrow to make up for the dross we have often suffered this season. Do they dare/care to actually give one? We can’t afford to rely on other teams to bail us out. It’s down to the players in our squad.

  5. All panic over we are safe, Everton only drew😂😂😂

  6. As Everton drew it is all irrelevant now as they cant catch us and we are mathmatically safe. Reserve team tomorrow as Leeds will be up for it.

  7. We are safe no matter what. The lads can be on the beach for the last two games, while we prepare for Fiorentina. I’d like to see some of the youngsters get minutes.

  8. Don’t worry people. It’s done. Thanks Everton. Although quite annoyed they got the late goal. Also spares Hugh’s mathematical blushes 😉
