Amazon is reportedly considering a potential partnership with West Ham United, according to Visit Example. Ex is a man who is usually pretty spot-on with this sort of stuff and he has given his latest update on his Patreon account.
The partnership could see Amazon becoming West Ham’s main shirt sponsor and acquiring the stadium naming rights, a move that would represent a significant step forward for the club.
However, as Matt reported on Claret & Hugh last week, the deal might also focus on introducing a ‘Moneyball’-style, data-driven recruitment programme using Amazon software.
With the Hammers struggling in the transfer market and failing to meet other clubs’ player valuations, any additional revenue would be a massive boost.
Current sponsors Betway are set to part ways with West Ham after a partnership spanning the club’s entire tenure at the London Stadium. Securing a globally recognised sponsor like Amazon would likely represent a significant upgrade.
And who knows—Jeff Bezos, with a net worth of $239.4 billion, might just have the resources to kickstart the Hammers’ faltering transfer activity
Waiting for Musk tbh….Playing Mars away sounds cool man!… Watching those robots run around in the future while I watch on my 3D Holographic machine that creates real bubbles is the way forward. …Jump on board!!
Can’t wait! Until 2065.
It’s a deal even our owners can f*** up so don’t hold your breath!
Sullivan and board out.
Hammerzon?
No way will sulli give up the reins of transfer power now he’s just reclaimed them, especially when you look at what a fantastic job he’s doing this January! The only data driven analysis he wants is from his trusted agents I fear
Wonder if they rename it the Amazon Stadium?
Welcome to The Jungle!!
We don’t get anything from naming rights, pretty much all goes to owners, so nothing exciting there.
Unless they pay a ridiculous sponsorship shirt deal, we don’t get much more than we do currently.
Not owning our own ground, not getting naming rights or catering revenue will mean we will be left behind our competitors as we can’t increase our revenue like everyone else.
We get a cut of naming rights, which is why the club have been pushing for it.
And the club gets a cut of catering too.
But then what we don’t get is far outweighed by savings on heating, maintenance, stewarding and cleaning- which I believe we pay none of.
The day that Jeff Bezos buys West Ham is the day that I stop going to watch them after over 50 years of support. The Olympic Stadium betrayal and Brady/Sullivan are bad enough but selling out to Amazon would be the final straw.
The signings will likely turn up at the wrong address and knock in 20-a-season for their new owners…
Maybe we can put our transfers in the basket and the delivery driver can leave them at the backdoor?
Bezos has become rich by undercutting the opposition and pays its staff reasonably poorly and expects them to jump through hoops not sure he would be the kindly benefactor type.
yep, probably looks like i STILL won’t be paying a truck load of money for a West Ham shirt. was waiting for Betway to f**k off and then get one. maybe not
You can get them at the Club store (website at least) without a sponsor on.
Can I get one with ‘BAC – The Window People’ on it???
If you live in the past, go head, but that’s why our club faltering, Sully is running us like a car boot sale.
It’s time to enter the real world.
