“Worse Than We Thought” | Hammers Injury Blow News

A top West Ham source revealed to Claret & Hugh this morning that Niclas Füllkrug is unlikely to face Ipswich in the upcoming Premier League fixture.

Only yesterday, we were informed by the club about how important Füllkrug is to the tactics of Julen Lopetegui, so this news is sure to come as a bitter blow.

When we asked the top-ranking club insider whether the German was likely to play at the weekend, the news was not good: “NO, he’s not back until after the international break. His injury has taken longer than we first thought.”

While this news is disappointing for the club, one can only hope that Füllkrug can remain in East London and continue his fitness work in an effort to be ready to play against Tottenham on October 19th.

The £25m striker was injured while training with Germany following his goal-scoring performance against Hungary in September. Early diagnoses of tendonitis and a two-week layoff have proven to be wide of the mark.

What an absolute waste of money. Anyone with half a brain knew this though. He’s not going to make the slightest bit of difference to us even if he is eventually fit enough to actually play.

Standard West Ham centre forward signing.

His injury was always going to be down played to spare the embarrassment and accountability from those questioning why anyone would ever think signing a 32 year old injury prone journeyman striker for £25 million was good business. Apparently the striker is integral to Lopetegui’s tactics (a convenient narrative given our complete lack of identity this season). The signings of Haller and Scamacca at least had an air of ambition about them even if it were to be proven misplaced or over stretched, but Fullkrug?! Gross Negligence springs to mind….

Won’t make any difference, this guy is way to slow for the prem and becomes striker number, a lot, who have failed post the Gold Sullivan era

We had the worst medical team for years. Always the same , out for a week or 2 Always ends up 6-8 weeks or more , either that or they tell the truth but for some reason the club Always lie to the fans and press ?

Bloody hell, Gonzo, I read on this fansite last week that Halfkrug wouldn’t be back until after the international break so it’s hardly a surprise! This is definitely NOT news. But you got me – I clicked on it!
