Wrong player got Hammer of the year says Zaba

|

Pablo Zabaleta believes the Hammer of the year went to the wrong player stating that Declan Rice should have won it.

Speaking to the club website Zabaleta was asked who should have won the Hammer of the year and he said “I think because I have been here for two years now and I’ve seen him grow and develop, make improvements, make his first international appearances and because I like to see the young lads do well, I’m going to say Declan Rice, but I’d also make a special mention for Lukasz Fabianski.”

Declan Rice has been Hammer of the year for two years running now, in 2018 he was beaten to the crown by Marko Arnautovic and this year it was beaten by Fabianski.

Rice managed to pick up three other awards in the form of Best Individual Performance, Young Hammer of the year for the third year running and the coveted Players’ Player award voted for by his teammates.

Maybe it will be third time lucky for Rice next year to finally beat his fellow players to the Hammer of the year award.
