Risking Credibility With These Knee -Jerk Changes

From warning signs exhibited yesterday during the second half of West Ham’s bore dry with Everton, head coach Lopetegui is in danger of losing the dressing room – losing the respect of his team and his own credibility. There had been murmurings ever since the falling-out out between the coach and Mohammed Kudus: Further signs were present yesterday that all is not good.

Aaron Wan Bissaka has been simply sensational since his arrival from Manchester United: as a right back he has been a shoe-in and a huge upgrade on Vlad Coufal. Why he was hooked yesterday for Coufal is beyond me: Perhaps he wasn’t getting forward enough or being creative or becoming a wing-back enough: But the look of disgust on his face and the conversation he had with Todibo before incredulously trudging off left little room for doubt over his opinion of Lopetegui’s decision.

West Ham signed a wonderful right back but Lopetegui seems to be trying to make him something else altogether.

The decisions to take off club leading goal scorer Antonio received a similarly incredulous response from the Hammers number 9 – by all means add Ings but to remove a goal threat in a must-win game?

I’m not alone in this, both from the comments made by readers and respected journalists alike-lookers are not convinced that Lopetegui is carrying the dressing room with these off the top of the head changes.

Sun Journo Jack Rosser sums up what many Hammers fans are feeling:” What is Lopetegui’s plan? Does it exist? Is anyone listening? Few answers were offered on a glum afternoon in east London.”

Is anyone listening? Increasingly, it seems, the players are losing their respect for the head coach – which is a very slippery slope and only likely to get more pronounced in the bigger challenges posed by Newcastle and Arsenal who wait on the other side of the international break.

“Risking credibility”, we are way past risking. That was true at pre-season and maybe the first two PL matches. As I said way back, when players are acting completely out of character, it is almost always due to loss of trust, usually in the manager/coach. You don’t suddenly recover and say “Whoops, my bad”, and start getting it right. Lopetegui is exposed as the charlatan he really is. He has no clue what he is doing, and West Ham is not (as far as I know) a registered charity. The next steps are simple, cut your losses, correct your mistakes and recover.

Time for Nobes to talk to Sulli

  • John Ayris says:

He’s lost the fans. It appears that he has lost at least some of the players. It’s only Sullivan that he needs to lose now…

If we appointed Sebastien Hoeness I’d be saying we are only 7 points away from European qualification.

With JLo we are only waiting to fall in to the drop zone!

He has no credibility to risk!

Performance wise we look like THE worst team in the league. There are not 3 worse teams like you said the other day Martin.

Southampton might not get out of the drop zone but they have a clear identity something we badly lack.

Ipswich are not worse than us and neither are Wolves! I said in a previous post that we got relegated in 02/03 with class players and a strong team.

JLo has no credibility and neither does Sullivan for appointing yet another joke of a manager.

If we don’t bullet JLo regardless of cost, we will be in the bottom 3 when we are eating cold turkey on Boxing Day!

Time to let Tim pick our next Manager.

I totally agree he has no credibility he’s a complete joke it’s clear that the players have had enough of him all he has managed to do is get the kicking off and making good players look like they never played football before but Sullivan is having trouble seeing that (should have gone to Specsavers) he has got to go now if he stays any longer we will find ourselves in a position that we may not be able to get out of

When you’re in a relegation scrap you want players like Mark Noble, John Moncur, Julian Dicks.

These players will die fighting for the club, roll their sleeves up and get stuck in!

We’ve got Paqueta who rolls his eyes or rolls all over the pitch! He only gets stuck in to the ref for getting booked for not retreating 10 yards for a free kick 🤦‍♂️

        • Taffyhammer says:

Mark Noble? John Moncur? Julian Dicks?
They are English, Mat. You’ve said before English is not the way of the future.
          Make up your mind.

I never said English is not the way of the future at all. I said there are no English Managers that we could appoint that make sense in response to your crazy Lampard suggestion!

I’d take Eddie Howe all day long! He would be ideal, he saved Newcastle, plays good football and is respected for his achievements at Bournemouth!

I could easily have said Tevez, Lucas Neill or James Collins, none of whom are English 🤷‍♂️

Frank Lampard as manager will just add a whole new level of toxicity.

Lampard is odds on for the Coventry job for a reason. He still has a lot to prove before any Prem club other than Chelsea are mad enough to touch him.

My mind is quite clear, I’d love Sebastien Hoeness.
