Yarmo and Afolayan give Moyes hope

Oldapo Afolayan now in Moyes’s mind after a goal-scoring start

Not many may  be too impressed but David Moyes could be more encouraged than ever to give the winter window a swerve.

Today’s may not have been the most notable win in Irons FA Cup history but it demonstrated that PERHAPS the manager has some options to his troublesome striker issue.

And with just over a week left to sort it or otherwise in the winter window he may be encouraged to believe that Andriy Yarmolenko can do a job should he need it done.

He has been saying for a couple of weeks that he may need to find an answer from within the squad and perhaps employ the services of his youngsters.

Today will have had him optimistic that in  goal scorer Oldapo Afolayan and with  Mipo Odubeko soon to available hopefully he can get through a season where relegation is not an issue.

Given that we are in circumstances where a foreign loan option is his only other option he may feel that sticking with what he’s got is a direction he can accept.

He has has guided the team into seventh place and the fifth round of the Cup with a small and unbalanced squad.

A tough decision ahead for Moysie but it presents a fascinating scenario for us fans.

  1. Just watched the post match interview with Oldapo Afolayan, put a big grin on my face.
Comes across as a confident, grounded and a really nice fella.
Great to see the young fellas getting their chance.
    COYI ⚒⚒⚒

  2. There is a unique opportunity for West Ham
They go 4th if they beat Palace in a league where no one is pulling away.
The teams above all have European distractions. With back options at LB, CM and CF who knows?

  3. What premier league club really has one centre forward the clowns are skint, more than we realis

  4. We need to bring in a forward type of player, I love the Hertha Berlin guy Piatek on loan with view to buy. I see we are linked with the Celtic striker 35m !!! and cant even get in to the Celtic team at times, some come down if we signed him instead of the Sevilla player but in Moyes I feel we can trust so lots of hopefully ridiculous rumours going around. I feel we need two players, a LB and a forward/wide player.

  5. Rely on this guy and odubeko as back up for antonio for half a premiership season ?

    Er no .

Just get a striker in will you, be it on loan if that is all.

We clearly have the funds for wages.

  6. The keyboard warriors will want loads of expensive signings but moysie would do well to swerve this winter window and save his money for the summer. What definitely doesn’t need to do is buy another seriously overrated player from the bundesliga. Leave that market to the likes of frank lampard with money to burn.

  7. It has been noticed this window that players do not want to come to Stratford because we are not playing for cups and titles. Perhaps a time out of the market will do the club good.
