Yarmo’s sad record

|

Andriy Yarmolenko’s latest injury could easily keep the Ukraine international out until the end of the season adding to the appearance woes of his Hammers career.

Sadly, and this is not intended as a criticism of the player, he will – if he misses the rest of the campaign – have made just 49 Premier League appearances from a possible 114 since arriving at the club – many of those of course have been as a sub.

He was still recovering from injury when arriving from Borussia Dortmund as one of Pellegrini’s first signings and since then has missed a total of 45 games with the 2018/19 season being a washout with 32 games and 252 days on the side lines.

He’s obviously bound for the exit door in the summer assuming the Irons can find a buyer with the Hammers looking for some sort of fee given he is out of contract in the June of 2022.

However, the club will have a tough job on its hand with Felipe Anderson and Manu Lanzini more than possibly amongst those for whom they will be hoping to move on.

Seeing Yarmo the other night made me realise what a poor purchase he has been and that this type of player should never again be brought to this club, going forward, sad as I may be for the injury he sustained.
There may be hope for a sale of Anderson as it seems like he may gey game time and show a little worth. £15 – 20M….would be good going if possible.
As for Lanzini….. I have seen flickers, that he still has a little spark and is able to communicate with Benrahma….still a little hope for him IMHO.

More worried about a centre forward Antonio has gone off the boil and injury prone? with no replacement to hold the ball up I fear for the rest of the season😕

At least we won’t be cursing our luck that he’s not available for the rest of the season. Great opportunity for management to manage rather than having to find a use for a costly ‘asset’. Sad news, but we’ll continue to progress with the players we’ve got.

Sad it hasn’t worked out but we actually got a better return from Andy Carroll with certainly some great memories from his career with us.
    Neither will retire as paupers!
