Yellow Card Paqueta Walking a Toon Tightrope

West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá is just one booking away from suspension, having already picked up four yellow cards earlier this season.

The Brazilian was cautioned in matches against Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and during the ill-tempered 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Another yellow card would see Paquetá hit the five-booking threshold, forcing him to miss a game.

The Hammers have struggled with disciplinary issues this season, leading to a string of cards and suspensions. Winger Mohammed Kudus is currently serving a five-game ban for a confrontation against Spurs players, amid reports he also had to be separated from head coach Julen Lopetegui during a heated half-time exchange.

Edson Álvarez has also been sidelined, missing West Ham’s clash with Everton after a reckless red card in the match against Forest.

Paquetá now faces a tricky balancing act, with Kudus still unavailable until the increasingly critical Premier League fixture against Leicester.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

  • Beyond caring now says:

    I bet he’s had a bet on a booking….
Seriously though who cares if he gets suspended, could be a blessing in disguise if he did give someone else the chance who might actually do something as he’s been rubbish all season.

  • Alan says:

Wouldn’t notice if he was on the pitch or not at the moment.

  • Jack says:

I predict he’ll get booked against the Gooners, so he can go to Brazil and address the Brazilian Senate Commission in person.

  • Jay says:

The frustrating thing about Paqueta’s bookings are that more often than not they are for for trivial, petty things, and rarely a last ditch attempt to save his team or team mates. He needs to shape up and cut that out of his game.
