You and Newman have no time for a rest Moysie

|

David Moyes hinted at taking a rest after the final game of the season against Brighton on Sunday.

He claimed he would be taking time off, and there is a very fair question that has been asked by ClaretandHugh forum member EUG.

He wrote: “What on earth is going on? Not only have we lost out to Villa for 22 year old Boubacar Kamara but another top young player we have been after 19 year old Fabio Carvalho has just signed on a FREE for Liverpool. The season has only finished a day ago, and both teams have signed two of the hottest young talent in the world.

“I thought this was exactly the job Rob Newman was supposed to be doing? Not chasing players on the last day of transfer windows at vastly overpriced, desperate bids. Villa and Liverpool are far more professional. It’s a disgrace.

“Please somebody ask the question “What is Rob Newman, doing?’”

It’s a good question.

Kamara has joined Villa, with the deal being announced the day after they lost to Manchester City on the final day, while Liverpool have snapped up Carvalho. City have done a deal to bring Erling Haaland in.

Given that the Irons need around seven or eight players this summer, our deals need to be done as soon as  possible.

We have already lost two players: Mark Noble and Andriy Yarmolenko.

Noble should surely have been replaced between January and the summer, with a deal lined up and announced after his final game for the club, and we have all known for some time that Yarmo will be heading off once his contract expires.

Not replacing those two already is a warning sign. West Ham need to start their business early, or else we’re going to be left behind.

Yaking breaks hardly seems to be an option!

I think it’s fair to say that this transfer window will be the “mission statement” of West Ham and where the future intent of the club lies.

Let’s hope that the work of the past 2 seasons is rewarded with a positive summer recruitment of quality players who will have an active part to play in the clubs future.

Was gutted to see Kamara sign for Villa. Completely agree, what is Rob Newman doing? We need to do business early. We should have been such a more attractive option for Kamara. I am sure Stevie G is a big pull and they are building a decent squad but we have Europe albeit not the one we all wanted) and London has got to be preferable for a 22 year old coming to the UK over Brum. Big mistake to let him fall through our fingers.

I really really worry about Moyes and his recruitment team (I am beginning to think this recruitment team was just set up to create a job for Moyes’s son). There is no hiding place now. Moyes has promised to sign young and hungry players, lets see does he do that or just go back on his promises and sign players like Lingard. It is disappointing to see the lad from Marseille going to Villa ahead of us but they know that if they do not sign proper players Rice may even not stay for next season.

I trust Moyes with his coaching and player development, but his recruitment has been almost non existent. Bowen and Soucek were not his signings. His only signings have been Kral, Vlasic, Hugill, and the only successes have been Lingard, Coufal and Areola. I understand the need for due diligence and I really don’t want West ham to go out spend stupid sums of money but when the team was leggy this term, he really should have used more of our academy players since no one was signed in January. Why was Okoflex and Nevers not used when they are ripping up the u23 league? Instead he opted for the Yarmolenko. Why was Alese not used as the left side CB, instead he used Johnson, who didn’t do bad but these youngsters should have been used when we needed them instead of players who just haven’t done it like Yarmolenko and Fredericks.

There are so many talented out of contract players available, who would improve our squad and first team. They need to be signed up ASAP before other clubs nab them, especially the ones that have a desire to play for the mighty hammers

Is this how it’s gonna be for the next few months? The league finished yesterday and we’ve already got people complaining about lack of signings.

We have a recruitment team in place so there should be no hanging around.

Don’t know what Villa are offering but it must be more than us.
Moyes has been terrible at recruitment missng out on quality players

See we are gone back for Lingard, its so sad we are just going back in time, we have an aging squad. He has promised on multiple occasions to buy young and hungry players and yet we find ourselves in this situation. I am really really worried that after 12 months we are still chasing Lingard. Moyes is slowly but surely undoing all the good work with signings like this, he has not delivered in terms of transfers. We need quality young signings with the exception of CB. Why have we not picked up on some of the outstanding free signings out there.
